From your mysterious editors...okay folks, we aren't getting many hits here on the Southern Watch online. Sad, but true. The worst of it is that those of you who don't check it out miss out on vital news and some great (ahem!) humor.
And if you don't check it out this month, you will likely miss out on critical information concerning certain missing Consortium relics and dirty dealings here in our fair Southern Marches! Did YOU lose anything at Meridian Maneuvers?? <g>
Go on, have a read. It won't hurt...much.

Votes on Marion Glen and Viridian Fjord (for admittance to the Consortium) are due no later than Fools' War - a mere two weeks away!
Two Chalice Challenge bids have been received to date. If your group plans to bid, please submit it soon!
The next Consortium meeting is scheduled for Saturday at Fools' War, following the Gong Show.

Taxes will be presented at Fools' War in Court to Their Majesties. Thanks to all of you who donated your time and money through Lady Marie at Meridian Maneuvers!

Wow! You all came out in force to answer the call for volunteers! Please remember, if you're already signed up, to check the schedule at Information Point onsite to confirm. Or, if you haven't signed up and wish to do so, please make sure you put your name on the chart along with the initials of your home group.
As the recent update letter noted, new items have been added to our schedule, and more may be added still before D-Day. There's all sorts of troublesome activities for you to get into! On that note, please remember to sign up with Gio if you plan on entering the Gong Show, either via phone, email, or onsite at Info Point (cut-off is Saurday at noon...there will be a limited number of slots granted on a first come, first served basis, so get in soon if you want to win the valuable prize!).
Finally, bring your spare change! Milady Ailsun will have her kitchen open at the Consortium Mixer (Thursday) with Travellers' Fare available for a tiny sum of money. On Saturday, THLady Aislinn and Lady Isabetta Asini will be serving a lunch that will appeal to the sun-kissed, also for a small fee - this lunch is a fundraiser, with profits going to Their Highnesses' Pennsic Meridian Party Fund.
Thanks, all! We look forward to seeing you at our little shindig...
Yours, Yseult, Autocrat [email protected], 478-956-4734

Coming Next Month...or, Submissions Please?
Next month's theme is the SCA in the modern world, with a focus on the world wide web. Articles will include such interesting bits as "Fighters' Insurance" and "SCA-Related Yahoo Groups" (and some of these are *bizarre*). If you have anything you'd like to add to this theme, please send it our way!
Also, please remember, if you volunteered to write an article in the past few months, we still need your submissions, theme or no theme. Likewise, Seneschals, please send us a blurb about your group's activities!

The Southern Watch is your Newsletter!

That's why we need submissions! Special thanks go out to all the groups and their seneschals who took the time to submit news from the marches, and to all of the wonderful individuals who have either contributed articles or arranged to write special features in coming months.
Remember, any Consortium members (including people from area incipient groups and college clubs) may submit to the Southern Watch. Articles, news bits, birthday wishes, recipes, opinions, columns - you write it, and we post it! The only request is that it be written in a clean enough manner that children may read it, too. Thanks!
