Want to learn more about the tax system? Lady Marie, our Caecepol (tax collector) has penned a letter for your edification, posted on the Officers' Letters page (the link is on the left). Be sure to read this one - you don't want to feel completely ignorant when pestered for money at upcoming events!

New groups request admittance to the Consortium... A call to arms from your Fyrdwise... Requests from the Gulf Wars autocrat… EARLY Chalice Challenge information… And something about Royals and showers in the Consortium camp at Gulf Wars?
Well, you'll just have to read the Weard's lengthy letter on the Officers' Letters page to find out the scoop. Yes, he's wordier than ever, but if you want to be "in the know", set aside a few minutes and check it out. All the hip kids are doing it!

Okay...since "stirring and provocative" didn't work (or I did it badly <g>), I'm trying a new approach. I DARE you to read this missive!
Fools' War needs volunteers in masses...an event this size needs all the help it can get. Besides, we're hoping to make this event a true "Consortium spotlight"! Thus far, Forth Castle is in the lead in number of volunteers and number of hours offered in various areas, besides providing us a landcrat and rapier planning. Closely behind them is Dragonfly Marsh, with a big bulk of House Bohun running Live Weapons. Wait a minute! Isn't this His Highness's shire and His Chancellor's Shire?? ;)
I'm talking about all of this as if there's some big reward or prize or something...well, the reward is simple: satisfaction of helping your cousins, contributing to the betterment of the Consortium, and that fuzzy feeling following a job well done. Prizes? Well, maaaay-be...
So, I DOUBLE dare you to volunteer!
The Gong Show - oh, man, I KNOW there's talent in the Consortium. And with a host of famous personalities running the show, you don't want to miss out on this one. Besides, involving yourself in such silliness is good for your health. Yep, this one's the *double dog dare*...be a contestant on the Gong Show!
And finally, I'll make my breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going straight for the throat - I *triple dog dare* you to let us know how you (or your shire or household) wishes to play with us at Fools' War. Volunteers and contestants can email or call, and all offers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, everybody! Yours, Yseult, Co-Autocrat [email protected], 478-956-4734

That's why we need submissions! Special thanks go out to all the groups and their seneschals who took the time to submit news from the marches, and to all of the wonderful individuals who have either contributed articles or arranged to write special features in coming months.
Remember, any Consortium members (including people from area incipient groups and college clubs) may submit to the Southern Watch. Articles, news bits, birthday wishes, recipes, opinions, columns - you write it, and we post it! The only request is that it be written in a clean enough manner that children may read it, too. Thanks!
