What is my competition doing?

Looking at other portfolio websites, I see a lot of very visually appealing aspects to the websites. Features such as interactive scrolling, animations between page switching, and other things of that nature. These are things that I want to emulate in my won personal website.

What can I do that my competition isn't doing?

One weak point I have seen in many other portfolio websites is the lack of solid demonstrations of their projects. I want to demonstrate my projects to the viewer in a way that is clear and understandable. Depending on what the project is, it could be a little video, or even something interactive where the website viewer can teest out the project in-browser.
