A space ship becomes stranded on a remote planet inhabited by a reclusive doctor of philology, Dr. Morbius.
A Sailing ship is wrecked on a remote island inhabited by a reclusive scholar Prospero.

His daughter Altaira, a robot of incredible capabilities Robby, and an ancient monster, the Monster form the id.
His daughter Miranda, a sprite of incredible capabilities Ariel, and a ancient monster Caliban.

Aided by his knowledge of languages, the doctor gains the unlimited power of an ancient alien civilization, the Krell.
 

Aided by his knowledge from books, the scholar gains the unlimited power of an ancient alien sorceress Sycorax.
 

His daughter and the captain of the stranded space ship, Commander Adams fall in love.
 

His daughter and one of the stranded noblemen Ferdinand, fall in love.
 

Dr. Morbius must renounce his power to regain his humanity. Only then can the space ship leave the planet and return to Earth.
 

Prospero must renounce his power to regain his humanity. Only then can the sailing ship leave the island and return to Milan.

Morbius / Prospero

A misogynist scholar in exile is able to pursue his studies unhindered. These studies lead to the harnessing of an ancient power. This forbidden knowledge threatens his humanity. For him to regain his humanity, he must renounce his power.

 
Altaira / Miranda

The Daughter of a reclusive scholar, she has lived her life completely isolated form the company of other humans.

 
Commander Adams / Ferdinand

One of the elite members of the group stranded in a remote locale, he falls in love with the daughter of the recluse. Their love threatens the delicate balance of power in this New World.

 
Robby The Robot / Ariel

A being of incredible power capable of matter transformation, he has a built-in safety mechanism that does not allow him to harm others. With his power unleashed from an ancient order, he is in service to the reclusive scholar.

Monster from the id / Caliban

The product of an ancient power, he represents the psychic energy generated by blind impulse. Rebelling against the control of the reclusive scholar, he threatens the daughter.
