Hello everyone...Well dangit, I know the Yankees won, won big, and that I
should be happy about it...and a small part of me is...but most of me just
can't help but be *irritated* at them! This is becoming old and beyond
ridiculous...almost anymore it seems they do this the very night *before*
Cone's start, and when it comes time for Cone to pitch, it's like pulling
teeth to get 3 runs out of them! Do they just tire themselves out the
night before scoring all those double-digit runs? Why can't they ever do
this for Cone??? If anyone deserves double-digit run support from this
team it's Cone! He has about 4 or 5 games I think he could have won if it
weren't for the shy and shady "offense" those days...*ugh*! I'm sorry,
but I just had to vent that...like I said this is getting old!! :(

Kat-- Thank you for your info regarding Cone's start on Thursday...I also
glanced at tomorrow's probables just to make sure he was still
starting...according to them he is, so let's all keep our fingers crossed
and wish him luck..and a LOT of offense!!! :)

Go Cone!!! Go Yankees!!

KC, I was just thinking the exact same thing myself! I actually just told my
dad the same thing when the game ended! They seem to do this every night
before Coney pitches!! It has happened like the past 3 times now! I know that
it is great to see them win big like they did tonight, but you know, i was
thinking the same that i wish they would just save like 5 of those runs for
tomorrow! 3 runs should absolutely be enough to win if he would ever get run
support! Anyway, hopefully it will be different tomorrow! I think that the
Yankees luck is starting to change, that come back win last night just might
even be the turning point of the season!

Good Luck Coney!! YANKEES ARE # 1!!!!

Funny, KC, I was AT that game tonite, and I was thinking the exact same
thing! Here we go again.... It kills me because even though Andy Pettitte
pitched very well tonite, there are so many nites when he's horrendous and
the Yankee bats bail him out and he ends up with a no-decision or even a WIN.
Why can't Coney get the same? His mental block has spread to the TEAM.
They want soooo badly to get him that win, that they press too hard and
whenever you try to swing for the fences all the time you strike out. Coney
sees he's not getting the support, and he starts to press to hold the game,
and that's what leads to a breakdown. It's practically scripted!!!

And worst of all, the A's are ready for blood -- first the ninth inning
heartbreaker last nite, and now they're blown out... tomorrow get ready for a
huge slugfest.....

Ugh, I'm not even gonna think about that. Coney, I'm praying for you
(maybe we should send out some negative vibes this time???), because we all
know you can still do it!!! In my book you're not 1-10, 6.75 -- you're 0-0,
4.50, because you're on the beginning of a new season. Just forget about
everything you've ever done this year, about who you're playing, and go out
there and throw the damn ball!! You're a YANKEE, gosh darnit, and Yankees
never say die!

I'm glad the Yanks are winning, and I know Cone is just trying his hardest.
Double digits scores are probably not a thing for the Yanks, maybe it's the
spirit of the club when Cone's starting that makes them play. Perhaps it's
the pitcher. Keep the numbers low, and we'll keep the numbers higher.
*shrugs* I really don't know.

Good morning all

I am glad there are some out there that feel the same about the no run
support thing. It's strange, but they certainly have their bats when Andy
pitches!!

Well the good thing is that David threw a few pitches yesterday before the
game and went home!!! He should be well-rested and his father Ed has come
into NY to see his son pitch so this is an important start for our David on
my levels. Also, with Billy Conners sitting in for Mel, maybe things will
be ok, as he seem to have a good affect on David.

Well guys I can't be positive.... I'm sorry I feel very defeated. The gods
of baseball have been very cruel to coney this year. Let's face it, Pen is
right, this team IS going to be out for blood!!! They have dropped their
last 4 games and now THEIR bats will be hot. I live in Chicago and just
look what the sox did to Seattle last night...... 19 run guys!! (gulp) I
am not saying that coney will give up that many ( I hope not :-))

Like the rest of you, just wanted to say my peace and sorry to sound like a
negative nelly. I am taping the game.. I wish I could leave work and go
watch it at home. Chi-town... maybe I could take the train in and meet you
at Timothy O'Tooles (tee-hee)

Take care all

God, doesn't it feel like we've been waiting forever for this? More than 3
months, anyway. Damn, and he looked *good*, too. He didn't even need the
12 runs. (well, *he* didn't need the runs... but I'm glad we had them
because of the @#$U*#@% bullpen!)

Six innings, two runs, 8 strikeouts, 1 walk... damn, the inning he struck
out the side after having two on and no-one out was awesome!

I am just one happy girl today...

Yay Coney! I'm so happy for him, glad the offense scored 12 runs so the
bullpen wouldn't waste another fine start for him. (btw, what happened?) He
still pitched alot (109) and I would've liked to see him pitch at least one
more inning, but he was great anyway. Hope this starts a streak of good,
winning starts!

Hello everyone!!!!!! Well, I see that you all have seen/heard the
*fabulous* news...CONE WINS!! CONE WINS!!! *Yay*!!! :) I am just *soooo*
happy for him...and what a win, too!!! Gah...EIGHT (8) strikeouts?!
*Awesome*! He pitched very well...yea he gave up that homer to
Giambi...but again, you can't really blame him for something like
that...gotta give some credit to a player like Giambi. Anyhow, I was so
excited...I even got up extra early and got ready for work before the game
came on, then I listened to it on the computer until I had to leave for
work just after the top of the 6th. I didn't want to leave, and I
couldn't wait to come back and update the site!!! So this is why this may
be a little late for some of you, I just got home! :) Man, I can't wait
to see Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight and all of those!! :) :) And I
gotta add, *PROUD* of the offense!!!! They were on *fire*!! All of
them...the whole team just deserves so much credit for this win today!!!
Go Yankees!!!!

Man, I envy those of you who got to *see* the game and who even got it on
*tape*!! I wish I could get the games here! :( And my NY MSG supplier is
currently unavailable....*hehe* :(

Ohh...Suzette...thank you for sending the article link!! It was a very
nice article, I enjoyed reading it! I think it is so wonderful that
Cone's dad came into town to support his wonderful son, and I am just so
happy for the both of them that he won today and won huge!!!! I hope this
is the start of a grand winning streak for our Sweet David...after the two
months he's had, he deserves it!!!!!!!

And be happy for yourselves, too!! We all stuck by David because we
believed, we *knew* he still had what it takes to win! We fought against
all the nay-sayers, all the pessimism, and all the negativity because we
knew in our hearts that Cone would come through! All of you know what it
means to be a true fan, and what great Yankee fans you are...I am proud to
have each and every one of you on my list...thank you all!!!!! :)

I was at my stupid job today, so I couldn't hear the whole game, but I did
manage to catch the tops of the 3rd and 4th inning during lunch break (I sat
in my car in the 90degree heat but it was well worth it!). I kept on
SCREAMING every time Coney got someone out-- every first pitch seemed to be a
strike!:)

I have to say it was definitely a good omen that Cone's dad was going to be
there -- when I read that in the paper this morning I immediately thought
about what happened LAST time his dad was at a game he pitched against
Oakland. (Labor day, 1996 -- need I say more?) And you want to know
something? He won it on less than a full four days rest! (So I guess that
long rest between starts didn't hold up...) You know what else is even more
unbelievable, though? He's let up three runs or less in THREE of his last
FOUR starts! I think the Yankees finally have their fifth starter back...

YAY CONEY!!!! For the next five days, at least, NO ONE can say you're
through and have any credibility!

YEAH!!! You know, it was so incredibly great to see Coney pitch so well
today! Just by seeing him today, he already looks to be back to his old self!
And it was really great that they were able to give Coney so much run
support so early! He really deserved this win and i am so glad he got it!!
:) :)

And I think having his father there definitely helped him! You could tell
that he had so much more confidence out there on the mound just by his
movements between pitches! And his fastball and slider had SO much more life
to it today! He was so awesome! Also, it was nice to see Mel Stotlemyre back
today. Between Mel, Cone's Dad, and the whole stadium full of fans cheering
him on, he had alot of great people rooting for him today! And you know what
was kinda funny?? Did anyone see the post game report because they were
showing highlights, and they showed these nuns in the stands. And Al Trautwig
said something to the effect of "Well, Cone even had these sisters there to
help him win!" LOL!! It was great and funny!

Anyway, I am so happy for Coney!! ANd also for the Yankees, I am sure they
must have felt bad for never giving him run support, but they finally have! A
big weight has been lifted now that Coney won, so hopefully this will lead to
a nice winning streak and great roadtrip!

Congrats to Coney, he really was great! I am so happy for him!! :) :)

Great effort by all. I am so happy that David and the team finally got
the monkey off their backs.

David put two on with no outs in the fifth (HE DID NOT LOOK FLUSTERED),
then proceeded to strike out the side. Again in the sixth he put two on
then got out of it. I believe that the fifth and sixth innings were
defining moments for David. I hope he has another good outing next
time.

Al Trautwig mentioned that David's dad who was present, was his mentor
and that he taught him to pitch when he was nine years old. Papa Cone
looked so proud. He was totally psyched when David struck out the side
in the fifth. David also showed some good emotion when he pumped his
fist on the way back to the dugout.

The offense was totally awesome. I think that the A's are shellshocked.
Those back to backers the other night drove a stake through the A's
hearts and game the Yankees some momentum.

Let's hope that they all keep up the good work!

Hello to all:
Well, Sorry this is delayed, but I havent been online in a while.
I was at Coney's last two starts, August 5th and August 10th.
The 5th was dissapointing because i felt we coulda pulled out a win
for him, but our offense wasnt that good that day (besides Jorge's
2 homers) so anyway, it was great when all the fans (including myself)
gave him a standing ovation when he walked to mound to start the game,
so anyway, august 10th was a lot better, Coney was great, and the thing
was he threw strikes all day! that was definetly the key to his success.
It was great to be there for his "W". Well, catch you all later,

It's about time the team has been backing up Coney! I'm so happy he was able
to put up back to back wins. This will help so much with his confindence. I
think now he knows he can take the mound and pitch like he knows how to
without worring in the back of his mind that he gives up a hit it could cost
him and the team a win. I hope the puka beads are the thing that has been
bring him luck. After I saw him wearing his and him gettin the win the other

Well I'm looking forward to many more great outting for Coney and for him to
