Subject: another great outing!!

Good morning court members

And... what a good morning it is for our David who is now 3-10!!!

Last night went home and found the game NOT on Direct TV:((

I sat and paced the house for a while (as my only computer is at work). I
actually thought about going back to work to listen on-line, but instead
waited (impatiently I might add) for baseball tonight. Altho- they didn't
talk/interview David. I am going to have to tape the pre-game show on MSG
tonight to get last nite's recap. I swear you guys, my husband has
officially claimed me to be a nut!!! We are suppose to go out to a 6-course
wine dinner tonight and I am already fussing because they are on ESPN
tonight!!!! What can I say, I am living for baseball and have become a
social hermit in the meantime!!

Cesca, I saw those puka shells on the highlights on espn and I too am glad
he's still wearing them!!! (he looks so cute in them too)..... And, btw...
what a great b-day present Scotty b game himself, great defensive plays and
a homerun to boot. I would have gone out and bought him a birthday shot
after that performance.

ok guys until next time... must go and read the ny morning papers
take care and have a great day

I'm glad he won...2 consecutive wins! The offense really supported
him...hope they continue to do so through his next starts!
But...why did he pitch only 5 innings? His pitch count was 92...that's not
that high, I was expecting Cone to pitch at least the 6th inning. Oh well,
he won, that's good :)

Hey, that really was a great game last night for Coney! And talk about run
support!! lol. He sure did get plenty of it last night! I am glad that he
pitched so well and that all the Yankees hit so well for him! I can't
believe that shot that Justice hit!! GEEZ, that thing went like 443 feet, or
something like that. And Brosious sure did have a nice birthday bewteen the
homerun and those great plays in the field :)

Hopefully Coney will be this great again for his next start on sunday. Its
Whitey Ford day and it would be great for him to pitch so well again. And I
will be at that game, so all the more reason for him to win, hehe ;)

Hey everyone! Thanks for writing...Jaycee I must agree with you on the 5
innings thing...I, too was curious why they took him out after the 5th...I
didn't think 92 pitches was *that* big of a deal...I bet he could have
stayed in until the 7th or at least through the 6th...I heard he didn't
look too happy about leaving after the 5th, either...But like you
said...oh well, at least he won!!! :) :)

Cesca-- That's so cute that you have puka shells, too...*hee hee* What a
trend setter Cone is....:)

Now I'm curious...I know some of us have talked about this before on
here...but is anyone seriously considering going to Kansas City for the
Yankees series? I would really like to go, and if anyone else is going
maybe we could meet up in a group for a game or something...meeting for
Cone's start would be *fabulous*! So if anyone is truly interested...feel
free to discuss it here or E-mail me at [email protected]?? :)
Great! Have a nice day! ~ ~ ~ ~

Hi There Fellow Courtiers,

I watched the game last night. (Actually, I've watched or listened to
every game. When I can only listen live, I'll tape the game and scan it
later.) Coney was really good. He felt that he wasn't as good as the
last outing. I think it was because the result was the same.

I'm feeling a little chatty right now, so here goes:

The reason he was lifted after five innings:

Joe said he took him out because it was about 100 degrees out with no
breeze; and he did his job and would get the WIN! I think Joe was
right. There was absolutely no need to drain him in that heat.

There is Justice in NY or any where else the Yanks are playing. He is
just doing an awesome job since coming the Yankees. He raised his
batting average from .262 to .296 and has hit 9 homers for us, for a
total of 30 on the season.

I am so glad that Scotty hit that homer. Cecil Fielder was the last
Yankee to hit a homer on his birthday (1997). He needs to do the same
for the next two years to tie Craig Nettles who homered on his birthday
three times.

Christina - That is really great that you are going on Sunday. Coney
seems to pitch really well on BIG days at the Stadium when they trot out
all the Yankee Greats. This day for Whitey should be special.
Hopefully it will sunny and about 85-90 degrees out. Coney seems to
pitch good in the hot weather. I might be going on Friday to see
Clemens pitch. Someone offered my friend their tickets if we could use
them. I hope she can find a babysitter.

Here's to Coney finishing the season strong! Go Yankees!

Kat

P.S. I really love playing the Rangers. Could we play them 20 times a
year? Hee Hee I hope they pound the Dead Sox.

It was really great to see Coney pitch so well and
*finally* get some run support! I am also hoping for a
good outing on Sunday - I'll be there, but I haven't
noticed any real luck effect to that - I was at the
perfecto, but I was also there for at least one loss
this season (the Forum Party day). As long as he has
his shells, he'll be fine luck-wise, I think! Cesca,
that is cool that you have them too, I had one of those
necklaces years ago but I don't know what happenned to
it.

Bearing in mind how hot it is in Texas, Torre probably
made the right decision taking Coney out, yes it was
early, but better safe than sorry. He was in shape for
the win, so there's no sense dehydrating him.

I wish I could get to KC and meet you all, but that is
not going to work, I have to start trying to save $
sometime! :( Have a great time, though!

Well, the Rangers are certainly coming on tonight, I
guess that will teach Michael Kay to start talking about
a sweep during the pre-game show! :( I guess it's
that "kid pitcher" effect, these rookies no one's ever
heard of come on and just whip us!

Take care, courtiers and keep smiling...:)

Hey everyone!! Well, I must say I am very happy but also very angry about
today's game. Cone pitched *so* well, I am so proud of him...and I can't
believe they didn't let him stay in past the 6th inning. I know they get
worried about pitch counts and all that, but dangit...Cone is a grown man
and I think he knows if he can go on one more inning or two...I bet the
Yankees would have WON that game if Cone stayed in longer! I am just so
mad that Cone pitched *that* well and was robbed of another win...he's
been janked a few other times this year but this one takes the cake I
think. This is seeming to become a regular thing for the bullpen to choke
like this, and it's not very comforting at all...I know that everyone is
going to have their struggles, but I just hope the bullpen can get their
act back together soon...

SIX strikeouts though...*wow*...and 3 of those in the first inning! This
is our Cone, the big fan of strikeouts!!! :) Those of you who were at the
game...I hear there were little pictures of ice cream cones and pine cones
etc for strikeouts?? Very cute...:)

The page has been updated....:)

KC~I agree w/ you, Cone deserved to stay in and pitch at least the 7th
inning. I don't know what Joe was thinking...maybe he thought that if he
took Cone out early with a 3-0 lead that he could get the win?? Big
mistake...the bullpen failed BADLY..
I'm sure he feels good about his outing, though. And yes, there were pics of

Good Morning All

Well I am glad I didn't get to see yesterday's game altho- our David was
just fine. I did however see Friday night's game w/Roger pitching
beautifully and in the 9th things went very wrong w/the bullpen!!! It seems
as though the same thing happend to David yesterday. It's very
disappointing. But, he can hold his head up high and be proud of a great
performance.

Eyde, besides not getting the win, tell us all about the game!!!

OK gals... KC and I have been chatting (or I guess writing) and we are
serioulsy thinking about going to those Royal games. I know they are on the
week day, but we all have Labor day off and that's when they'll be playing
(hee-hee). It's kind of last minute but what the heck. I think I could be
game.

I'm feeling very confident in Coney and hope he continues plugging along!!

take care all and have a great day

I have to agree with you....they really should have let him stay in longer
than he did....i mean, 6 shutout, 2 hit innings!!!! Most of the people i

was disapointed that he didnt get the win he deserved.
It was a great day at the stadium though, the Whitey Ford Day ceramonies

Hey everyone! First of all I apologize for the late letter, I was very

upsetting...however, I'm not too worried as ups and downs will happen from

Hey fellow coney fans

We get to see him pitch tonight if you are fortunate enough to have ESPN 2.
Start time of 9:00 pm (central time).

I am not going to say anything regarding last night's tragedy except I hope
they don't put Nelson in again anytime soon!! Man, I felt bad for him until
the post-game interview... he didn't even seem upset that he gave up a
grand-slam, had that been Coney (and we've seen it happen too) he would have
been sooo upset. Not to mention poor Andy, wow, he pitched pretty well
until...

I don't know but IMHO it seems as though Nellie is still a little ticked off
about that whole all-star game thing, and doesn't seem to care anymore. I
hope I am wrong about that

OK guys have a great day!!

Off to KC in 5 days *yeah-rah*!!

Laura,

First, I hope that Coney bounces back from the last outing to the form
he had he previous four starts. I will be rooting my heart out for him
and the team tonight.

I'm glad that those of you outside the New York area will get to see the
game tonight on ESPN2.

As for Nellie, I hope he gets his act together soon. We need a good
righty out of the pen. If Nellie walked Edgar instead of challenging
him, it would have been only one run and we would still have had the
lead and Mo probably would have come in then. In reference to Joe going
to Nellie last night, I think that Joe always tries to get a guy that is
having trouble back out there as soon as possible so they can turn it
around.

In my opinion, there is more to last night's loss than Nellie giving up
the slam to Edgar. In the eight inning there was one out and Polonia
tried to make diving catch, but failed. If he had made that catch, one
run would have scored on the sacrifice and there would have been two
outs with runners on second and third. When A-Rod struck out with the
bases loaded the inning would have been over and Nellie would not have
had to pitch to Edgar with the bases loaded. Mo would have pitched the
ninth and we probably would have won.

We need Paulie to get healthy so that Justice can spend more time in
left. Hopefully Joe will pull Polonia for a defensive replacement late
in tight games. Bellinger would probably do a better job.

Let's Go Yankees! Good Luck David!

Laura,

I think you are right about Nelson. It is very obvious that he has been
pissed ever since the all-star thing and really does not seem to care anymore
at all. He is hurting the team and is acting very unprofissionally and
immature lately, with his attitude and with arguring with Torre last time
about pulling him. I am really starting to not want a guy like that on our
team anymore. Seems lately he only cares about himself even if it comes at
the expense of the team. He either has to shape up, or Torre better leave him
off the post season roster, because knowing the way he has been pitching
lately, he will probably ending blowing the WS for us!

Hey, did anyone notice that there was no pre or post game last night on MSG?
Does anyone know why because I know that there is always both of them when
its on MSG. I found that to be very strange and agrivating when i was waiting
for all the interviews at the end of the game and they didnt show them.

OK, well I have a feeling that Coney will do well again tonight, so lets
hope he does and that we can get the win and take the series over Seattle.
And lets also hope Torre does not put Nelson in there again, lol.

GO CONEY!!

I have no clue why MSG didn't have pregame or postgame....I was looking
forward to both of them, like usual. Nelson has been awful of late, you
think if he opens his mouth, he would be able to back it up, but that has
not been the case. Joe Torre knows what he is doing (obviously) and Nellie
was just being selfish, which i hate to see since these Yankee teams have
been noted as totally selfLESS and for working together towards a common
goal----->another championship! Albert Belle's and Juan Gonzalez's need not
apply! I think Nellie will eventually settle down, well i hope so anyway.
Here's hoping to another Coney/Yankees victory tonight!

It's great to have a bunch of Coney fans to chat with. I've been a fan

to pinstripes.

Eyde, I was wondering about the pregame show on MSG too. I didn't
notice there wasn't a postgame show because I was asleep by then!
These West Coast games are really killing me. I went to sleep sure
Andy had another W and I thought I was having a nightmare the next
morning when I found out Nellie blew another one.

You know our starters were really struggling at the beginning of the
season, and I guess the bullpen guys have tired arms. Hopefully Doza
will be back for postseason - and where the heck is Doc??? Why isn't
Torre using him?

How about Cone tonight? Great job overcoming a tight strike zone and a
disciplined and relentless Seattle lineup. The pitch count was high, but he
was absolutely brilliant, especially when the Mariners threatened.

MSG often doesn't do pregames or postgames in west coast games, because the
games go so late.

Hey everyone! First of all, thanks everyone for writing! Some
interesting discussions are going on! I must say I agree with you all on
Nelson's attitude...when I read Laura's note about him not seeming upset,
that troubled me. Like Christina & Eyde pointed out, there is just no
room for that sort of attitude on the Yankees team, they are known for
being selfless and sacrificing for the good of the team! I would
seriously like to give him the benifit of the doubt though, and believe
that is *not* the case with him...I can't believe he, as a professional,
would still be pouting over that all-star business! He surely won't be an
all-star next year if he keeps all of this up, so having a nasty attitude
surely won't accomplish anything! ;)

Kat-- *Great* points about Polonia and last night's game...some friends of
mine and I were all discussing that very same thing last night. Though I
think it's unfair to place blame on any one person for a team's loss, I
think that error by Polonia was pretty...well...troubling. It seemed he
turned his head and simply wasn't watching where he was going, which I
found to be rather odd...But people will err and the others should try and
compensate for it (i.e Nelson shouldn't have given up that GS!)

Alright! So tonight's game...what a game, huh? As always thanks to Laura
for informing us all about the national broadcast! Cone was
*fabulous*...he was awesome...I was so proud of him! And it was great to
hear him say things like he's not done yet and he knows he still has stuff
left. Though he's been saying that all season, and we know none of us
ever doubted him for a second, but it's still nice to hear him speak so
optimistically. :) He totally proved himself, too...his location was
quite precise, always kept it low...I mean some of those hits the Mariners
scored off of him were not off of bad pitches! He sure didn't look too
happy about coming out when he did, I think he could have at least
finished the 6th inning...but surely he feels good about his pitching and
gaining another win! *Yay*! :)

The front page has been updated...and the Charities page has been updated
as well, with links to many of the charitable organizations Cone's
foundation helps...so please check them out! I still have much more to
add to the site, but hopefully I will finish everything soon. :) Just a
notice for next week though, the page update will probably be a day or two
late, as I will be in KC to see the Yankees live! Perhaps I will run into
a few courtiers there...;)

Susan-- Welcome to the Court! We are always excited to have more Cone
fans join us! :)

Man..those West Coast games are killers, aren't they? I am going to be so
tired tomorrow! ;)

Take care and have a great day! ~ ~ ~ ~
