Hi everyone! Sorry I forgot to put the page's url up in the update note...
Ya-- Great article, as per usual! It made me a little emotional, also as
per usual, right? ;) Cone is sounding frustrated with himself, obviously.
I almost wonder if deep down he isn't a little self conscious about all
the "doubt" people seem to have in him. That's like the fourth or fifth
article I've read where he has said "Physically I couldn't feel better,"
he is really wanting to stress that, as if to reassure everyone. I
believe him though, I don't think he would say it if he didn't mean it,
even though he's been known to "fib" in the past. :) Plus, I think he
looks good, I don't think he looks old or tired at all, as some people
have said. Really, I think he is just struggling with his control and
location and I believe he will get that working in time. Like the article
stated he had a crappy few beginning starts in 1998 and ended up winning
20 games! The man has survived being tossed all around the MLB, TWO (2)
arm surgeries, slow starts and cruddly slumps, and he has *always* come
out on top shining brighter than any star in the sky. :) I know he can do
it again, it's just who he is.
"There were enough quality pitches to know I can still do it," he said.
"It's just a matter of being a little more consistent and a little more
aggressive." --I am very excited and reassured by this quote. Even
though it's just text, I could feel the enthusiasm that decorated it. I
was also glad to read that he was "nevertheless encouraged" today, for I
was too as he may have not pitched his greatest, but he still improved
from last week, and I foresee that improvement increasing.
YA-- Again, thanks for sharing the article with us! And no, I am not
worried, it will take a lot more than a couple mediocre starts before my
faith in Cone will even begin to falter. ;)
And thanks to BG, too! For if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have read
the article! And thanks for posting your new link to the list so others
may read it as well! :)
So now that I have shared my thoughts, what does everybody else think?? :)
Take care~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Hi! My name is Kathy and I just joined ConeysCourt yesterday. I thought I had seen every web-site known to man about David Cone until yesterday. I am the biggest David Cone there is. I absolutely adore him. I've had the honor of meeting him four times and had my picture taken with him each time. One of those times was at the "Perfect Game" signing with Boomer, Yogi and Don Larsen. Jorge Posada couldn't make it because his wife was having a baby. I would love to share my pictures with everyone. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to a fund raising event he was hosting to help raise money for the Westchester Children's Hospital. It was at Madison Square Garden. Him and his wife were there together. Has anyone else heard that him and his wife might be separating? Any way, he truly is a genuinely nice person. I have been a fan of his since his Mets days and have been in heaven for the last five years he's been with the Yanks. I was at opening day also. My face got wind burned because it was so cold and windy. I think everyone in my section thought I was a lunatic because every time Coney went on and off the mound I would stand and scream for him. I know just about everything there is to know about him and would love to share stories and here from other Coney fans. P.S. - Who got a hold of all those old pictures of Coney from little league and the minors? I loved them. They made my day! |

Hi Kathy! Welcome to Coney's Court! I would love to see your pictures - that sounds great! I have not heard that him and his wife are separating, but I did read an article about him in "New York" magazine last year, and it kind of sounded like they were having problems, he said something like he is happy being married, but there's always a part of you that wants to be free (this is just from memory, I do still have the article, I just am feeling too lazy to dig it out!) So it's possible... I met him at an autograph signing and luncheon at Spring Training this past March, it was near the end of the time for people to get autographs so I didn't want to hold up the people behind me on line, but I told him I was at the perfect game and he was genuinely interested, he was asking me about it. Unfortunately, I didn't want to stand there talking and not let other people get auto's, so I didn't stay, but I had the feeling he would of let me talk and talk if I had. Anyway, take care, have a great day, and keep smiling, Coney fans...:) |

Hi everyone!! Eyde, thanks for sharing your Opening Day tale with us,
sounds like you had a wonderful time!
Kathy-- Welcome to the Court, we're glad to have you here! Thank you
also, for sharing your tales with us!
Ally-- Thanks to you, too! That was really sweet what you said about the
autograph show, how nice it was of you to cut your conversation short so
others could get autographs! ;)
Also, I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but if you would like to see an
archive of the messages that have been sent through this list, just go to
listbot.com and click on "member login." Then it should give you a sort
of "control center" and there will be an option called "View archive."
All the messages that have been sent since day 1 are in there...
Have a great weekend!

Yes it was a great game last night. Very exciting! And Coney did pitch well, but he did not get the win. He got a no decision. Rivera got the win and I think it was Watson who got the save. Texas still can't beat us no matter what they do, lol. Hopefully tonights game will be as exciting as last nights. :) Have a good day everyone! Christina |

Hi everyone! I just want to say how proud I am of how Coney pitched last night against the Rangers. It was vintage Cone. He grinded it out but unfortunately did not get a win out of it. I'm sensing that he's back on track and will get into a groove from here on in. I believe his next start is Sunday against Toronto. I know I'll be keeping tabs on him while I'm eating my Easter dinner. |

He deserved the win so it was an honest mistake. It's too bad he didn't get the win considering he pitched so great. It was a great outing and proves that Coney still has his stuff. The last outting the speed was there (which he hasn't had in a while) but the location (which he's know for)wasn't Now we have the best of both worlds and have the pleasure of seeing him pitching to his potential! As I was watching the game the other day one of the annoncers said coney has the potential of pitching a no hitter if his location comes back. So maybe we can all look forward to another PG Keeping My fingers and toes crossed for david Cone Francesca |
