Hi everyone! It's Kathy. I can't believe I'm actually going to admit this
because of how much faith I have in him but I'm beginning to get concerned.
I really think David's confidence has been shaken up. I was watching some
tapes from the beginning of last season and of the '98 season and when he
was on the mound it was like nothing phased him...he just threw the ball and
trusted his stuff. If his next outing isn't up to par....he is going to
start feeling the heat. If there's one thing I know about Yankee fans it's
they expect you to perform and to deliver good results.....especially with a
$12 million a year contract and Coney knows it and I think he's really
disappointed in himself. I really hope everything's ok with
him....personally and physically. I'm just so nervous for him...he really
needs a good outing...just one win to get him over this hump.

Thanks for letting me vent.....as crazy as it sounds.....when he's not
right...I don't feel right.

<< WIRED HOME.htm>> I found this article in Time Digital about David's
favorite room in his house. I would love to curl up with him and watch a
movie on his big screen TV.

P.S. - I know this has nothing to do with pitching but I know some of you
are interested in getting to know his personal side.

Hi everybody! Wow...Well, I just got back from Vegas, so that's why I
didn't update the page this week! I didn't have a chance to see the
events or even highlights of the game...but I just saw that Cone got the
loss :( Man, I hope people aren't still freaking out about it, I still
believe he will be just fine.

Kathy-- That was a very neat article you sent to the list! My goodness
that room is quite elegant, isn't it? And yes, feel free to send anything
pertaining to Cone, even if it's not baseball related! That's what this
list is about, right? :) Any information is welcome, except for invalid
gossip...;P

Eyde-- Great pictures! Thank you for sharing them!

Cesca-- Glad to see you in the list finally! I've been wonderin' where
you've been! ;)

I hope everyone had a nice weekend...Go Yankees!!! :)

Kathy,
I hear ya...See, I have confidence in Cone...but it does look like he's
losing confidence in himself. I really do think he is nervous and
disappointed right now, you know what a perfectionist he is, and how
strong of a competitor he is. I am not worried about his physical
condition, I believe him when he says his arm has never felt better, and I
am not worried about his level of talent, I know he still has it in him,
you don't lose talent like that over a winter's time. I am worried
however, about how he is feeling. I'm worried about how hard he is
kicking himself after each bad outing he has. And what you said about the
fans is true...on the Yankees.com message board, person after countless
person has posted notes pertaining to Cone and how it wasn't such a good
idea for the Yankees to sign him blahblah....It burns me so, but deep down
I know that those "fans" don't really know what they're talking about.
Cone is extremely talented, and he always finds his way through the dark
whether it be with his natural talent or supernatural je ne sais quoi
magic...;)

Cone will get that win soon, I know it...and after that I believe that
will be the key to getting his confidence back, and soon those ice cold
swords in his eyes will turn back into the passionate flames we are used
to seeing...:)

Gads, I hope this note sends...I sent one last night and it registered in
the archive yet it hasn't arrived to the list...I'm wondering if something
within the list is broken....

I am not getting *that* worried yet - I heard the pre-game on the radio
Sunday and Sterling & Kay felt that it was a mechanical problem and that he
thinks he knows what it is - he is stepping off the wrong side of the
rubber, or too far over to one side, actually. He was throwing on the side
Sunday, which if nothing else is good to see that it is not a physical
problem. But they had an interview with him and he sounded OK, a little
down, but not too bad.

So I am not overly worried yet, but I am hoping for a real good outing next
time out. Right now, a lot of the Yankees are slumping all at once, and we
seem to be running into some hot teams, so I am hoping this dull streak
turns around and everyone starts playing like we all know they are capable
of!

Keep smiling, courtiers...

Ally :)

OHMYGOD!!!!!! U GUYS, CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!! Today I went to Yankee Stadium
again and I was chillin at the players parking lot for a while and I GOT
DAVID CONE'S AUTOGRAPH!!!!! (see pic below) His is the one to the far right.
He signed for everyone and he came up to me and was like, " How are you
doing?" and I was sooo flustered, I managed to stutter out a " I'm fine
thanx." Coney's Court was the 1st thing I though about afterwards. I must
say that he was the most genuine and nicest guys I have ever met. He was
very nice to all the fans and he also struck up some conversations with
them. My mom got some awesome pictures of him when he was signing my
yearbook, so as soon as i develop them I will pass them along, later guys:)
:)
                                          Eyde
PS
the other signatures on the yearbook are Joe Torre, Ramiro Mendoza, Mariano
Rivera, and John Sterling (the radio announcer for the yankees that i luv
soo much)

Eyde,

Congratulations! That's great news. I can't wait to see your pictures.
Get them developed as soon as possible. I'll be at the stadium Friday night
when they play Toronto. He pitches that night I believe. Hope I have the
same luck! Did you happen to notice what kind of car he was driving?

his performance tonight, he was *awesome*! 7 scoreless innings?? *wow*!
There is PLENTY more where that came from...this is only April! Those of

Hello everyone! Well, I think Cone performed pretty well tonight, just
the defense was a little shaky and the offense didn't really come around
until about the seventh inning. I guess he wasn't doing the arm swing
thing either...I wonder why not? Anyhow, the front page has been updated
with a new summary of tonight's game.

Also, I found this wonderful article on Yahoo...I also added it to the
front page, but I thought I would include it here as well...it has to do
with Cone's charity involvement...:) Check it out!

I apologize for the tardiness that has seemed to infest the list lately.
I wrote the listbot administrators two weeks ago about the problem and
they just explained they are having delays and they are working on the
problem. Then last week I received another letter that they had sent to
all the listbot owners, basically saying the same thing they had told me
the week before. I am hoping the problem has cleared up now, but if it
hasn't and it doesn't soon, I may go ahead and move the list elsewhere.

Regarding the Take Initiative letter, if anyone would like to discuss that
situation further I would appreciate it if it were kept off of the public
list. This list is dedicated to discussions pertaining to David Cone, and
I just don't feel that this list is an appropriate place to discuss that
topic. Please still feel free to express your opinions to Take Initiative
if you would like, but I would appreciate it if it were done in private.
Thank you, I hope that is not a problem for anyone. :)

http://www.geocities.com/coney36_nyy/

Hi everyone! Well, that was an interesting game tonight, wasn't it? I
think overall Cone did pretty well, he just kind of struggled in the 2nd
and 3rd innings a bit...but he sure got it together after that, with good
help from the defense of course. :) Personally, I would have liked to
seen the offense be a little more agressive, and maybe Cone would have
gotten his 2nd win...but, the Yankees still did come from behind to win it
in the 10th...

The page has been updated....

Hey! Aaron, thank you for sending that article to the list! It's a good
one, as per usual...;) I'm glad to hear that Cone is happy about what
he's doing right now, that is just fantastic. He should be, he's doing
great! :) And welcome back, by the way...we missed you! :)

Also, don't forget to cast your All-Star votes! You can do it online at
allstarballoting.seasonticket.com ! There is even a seperate ballot for
pitchers...it's an advisory ballot, but still the results are supposedly
viewed and considered. :) I bet you all can guess at least one of my
chosen AL pitchers....:)

Hey everyone! Did you all watch/hear/read about today's game? If not the
page has been updated with a summary, as per usual. ;) I don't know about
anyone else, but I am really getting annoyed at the Yankee offense. Cone
didn't do badly at all today, he did his part, just no one backed him up
with run support. Now it is still pretty early in the season, so I'm not
panicking or anything like that, I am just frustrated for Cone...and I'm
betting he's getting a tad frustrated himself...(he sure looks frustrated
in today's picture...;p) he could easily be 4-2 or around there if he had
just had better support...What do you all think? (The list has sure been
quiet lately...;))

Also, a new article pertaining to ALS has also been added to the front
page...;)

Happy Mother's Day!!! :)

Subject: The Bergen Record Cone regains form By KEN DAVIDOFF

Hi K.C & everyone

I found another (encouraging) article on David`s outing yesterday in today`s
Bergen Record. Just a few quotes

""Cone finds out what his stuff is all about, and then he gives us a chance
to win. That's vintage David Cone," . "He knows what the team needs at
certain times, and he gave it to us.""
manager Joe Torre said

"That's the best he's thrown all year," "He had everything together. We just
couldn't get him any runs."
catcher Jorge Posada said.

P.S Did someone say "37" or "Arm falling off" ....... I must have heard

Ya--Thank you so much for sending us those articles! They were *great*!!

"David Cone prides himself on giving his team a chance to win even when
he's not at his best. You'll have to excuse him if he's wondering when his
teammates will return the favor."

No *DOUBT*! I'm sorry but like I said, that has really been bugging
me...Glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated for him....;)

""That's what I'm supposed to do," said Cone, whose record dropped to 1-3
and ERA dropped from 6.81 to 6.15. "That's been my strength in the past,
to kind of find a way even when my stuff isn't great, keep the game close,
and give our team a chance to win the game. I was happy I was able to do
that, make adjustments, go with curveballs and splitters and sinkers.""

Ahhh...that's what makes you so dang awesome, David!!! ;)

"Cone, 37, realized early on that his four-seam fastball and slider
weren't working, so he dropped those pitches from his repertoire. "

See...it's stuff like this that I just dig about this guy. :) He has such
variety..and he really makes baseball a game of the mind...If it's not
working just do something else, make it up on the spot if you have
to...that's how he works...I love it!

Also...I really do hope Jeter can avoid the DL...You know Jeter reminds me
a lot of Cone...with how he is so dedicated and very hard on himself. You
know he doesn't want to avoid any chance he has to go out there and prove
himself. But I don't want Jeter hurting himself even more and risking
being out for a longer time...hopefully Joe et al will make the right
decisions, which I'm sure they will...;)

Ya--Thanks again for those articles!! You know I love 'em!!! :)
