Georgia Anna Haile was born February 2, 1871. She lived with her Mother and her grandparents in Missouri (town unknown). Her grandfather had a drugstore and lived above it. Georgia and her mother went to Texas by train when Georgia was about 6 or 7 years of age. Her mother died after arriving in Central Texas and her grandparents did not want her back. She lived temporarily with a "bachelor uncle" in Burnet by the name of Swift Ogle. Ogle was the Burnet County Treasurer. While on a routine trip to Austin to delivery money, Ogle disappeared, never to be heard from again. The woman who ran the hotel that Ogle and Georgia lived in reported the situation to the County Judge. Judge J. Alvin Crews and his wife Lora Mabry adopted Georgia Anna and raised her there in Burnet. There is a little confusion as to whether she was formally adopted or raised as their foster child.

Family of George Samuel "Sam" Hardy Notes:

As a young man, George Samuel Hardy suffered from a bronchial ailement, and on the advice of doctors, moved to Texas. He "read" law with attorneys in Burnet and began practicing. He even served as Mayor of Burnet for a short time. He joined the Northwest Texas Methodist Conference and preached in the Burnet area before moving to Old Margaret, Texas, which is now Greer County, Oklahoma. At one point, he invested in land immediately south of what is now downtown Lubbock, Texas. He gave that land to his descendants, who eventually sold it off prior to the boom that made Lubbock a city following World War II.

Joe Hardy was a druggist in Wellington, Texas. As a friend of the Governor, he was appointed as a Customs Officer in El Paso. He was killed when he tried to hang on to a car that drove off as he was trying to detain the occupants.

Family of Benjamin "Ben" Hardy Notes:

Ben and Emma were married in Albany, Texas, and spent their honeymoon on a train to the Methodist Conference. Ben preached for 46 years around Northwest Texas. He taught Math at Old Clarendon College before that. Elma taught English and Drama. Ben was a trustee of SMU for many years.
