Eliza Maranda Williamson Hardy

This photo was taken when Eliza was 78 years old. She was described as a very "spunky grandmother." Her husband died when he was 41, leaving her with six sons between the ages of 6 months and 18 years. Later in life, she lost her eyesight, but continued to knit socks for her family, having her family members check her stitches.

Eliza Maranda Williamson married George Washington Hardy in December of 1833. Eliza was born in 1815 and died in 1902.
