| Date: 28 July 2004 Q. Is god rich if so why doesn't he help poor people? A. God is rich! The Bible says that God owns the whole world! (Psalm 50:9-12). But God has given the earth to us humans to look after (Genesis 1:28-30). Part of that responsibility is that we look out for each other's needs. God expects us who are rich to share with those who are poor (2 Corinthians 8:13-15). God expects us to act justly and show mercy to those who are less well off (Micah 6:8). Q. Does god have toys to play with? A. I don't know. But God did create the whole universe, this world, and us, and He loves spending time with us (cf Matthew 23:37). So maybe we and the whole universe are like His "toys"!! :-) Q. Why is someone not my friend I want to be theres I really really do? A. This is a very difficult question. So many things influence whether people become friends or not. Apart from the fact that people are sometimes selfish, rude, and proud, there are two basic principles to keep in mind when wanting to form friendships: 1. You need to be a friendly person yourself before you can have friends! (cf Proverbs 18:24; John 15:14,15). 2. Friendships occur between people who have similar interests, hobbies, or pursuits in life (cf Amos 3:3). Apart from these things, every person has different 'tastes' or 'likes', and you can't really force anybody to do anything. So, I encourage you to just be patient, pray for the other person, do kind things, and see what happens! Q. What is gods mum name A. God (our Father in heaven) doesn't have a mum. God has always existed. The Bible says, "In the beginning God" (Genesis 1:1). God Himself said, "I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God." (Isaiah 44:6). God also said His name meant "I AM" (Exodus 3:14). But, when God came to earth at Christmas as a baby, and was given the name Jesus, He was born through woman called Mary (Luke 1:26-38). So on earth, Jesus' mum was Mary. Q. How do we know how long we live for? A. Although God knows how long we will live for (Psalm 139:16), He normally doesn't reveal that information to each one of us. I think that is because God wants us to learn to trust Him every day (cf Proverbs 3:5,6). Imagine if you knew the exact year and day when you were going to die?! Q. How old is Peter A. I am 34 years old this year. I was born in June 1970. Q. How old is GOD A. God is much older than the universe, because He created it! Actually, the scientist Albert Einstein discovered that "time" is actually a part of this physical universe and does not exist apart from it. This is a little bit complicated, but it means that God is "outside of time". Therefore God has no age! No wonder the Bible describes God as "I AM" (Exodus 3:14). He is always in the present. It seems that from His perspective nothing ever gets old! (cf Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8). Q. Why do people love money than every thing in the world? A. Some people love money so much because they are greedy and proud. And why are they greedy and proud? Because they deliberately choose to neglect God and don't want to worship Him alone. The Bible says that all evil begins when people neglect to put God first in their life, neglect to praise Him, and neglect to thank Him for everything (Romans 1:18-32). Q. Why do people call each other names? A. People call each other names because they are trying to put the other person down, or destroy them without using sticks or guns. This often happens when a person feels hurt by the other person, and they don't know of any other way to feel good again except by hurting the other person back! Jesus said there was a much better way to fix up your own emotional hurts. He said that He loves you, and no matter what anyone else does to you, you can remember that Jesus loves you. Then, you can pray for the person who hurt you and ask God to bless them. Doing this will help you not get bitter, will help you forgive them, and will help you not call them names! Q. Why do people fight? Q. Why do people have wars? A. People fight and have wars normally for one of two reasons: 1. They are greedy, and want what someone else has got, instead of patiently trusting God to give them all they need. (cf James 4:1-3). 2. They have been hurt by the other person or country, and instead of trusting in God and realising that He loves you and praying for your enemies and doing good to them (Luke 6:27-36), try to heal their own hurt by "fighting back". Q. Why do you feel like noone likes you at some stages? A. Sometimes we feel like no-one likes us because no-one talks to us or wants to spend time with us! And that is very true, because we don't like being left alone. God made us to have good company! (Genesis 2:18). When you are feeling alone and that no-one likes you, please remember that Jesus always loves you! (John 3:16; Galatians 2:20), and the Bible says that He is with you always and will never leave you! (Matthew 28:20). Q. How come people are our friends and then the next day they are not our friends? Q. Why do people who used to be your friends completely turns on you & calls you names & puts you down. A. People can turn on you for a number of reasons: 1. They think they have found a better friend than you, so they leave you. 2. They feel they have been hurt by you in some way, and they feel rejected, so they turn on you. Sometimes, however, they have misinterpreted the "facts", and they are judging you too soon! I recommend, if possible, going to them and asking them if there is anything you have done wrong to them, and if so, apologise and say sorry. If they don't want to talk to you, just be patient and trust God. Pray to God and ask Him to fix it all up for you, and you continue to be kind - try not to get angry back! |
