IN THE PHILIPPINES
[1919] Journalism courses were offered in the University of the Philippines when Dean Conrado Benitez asked American Walter Wilgus to develop journalism.
[1936] University of Sto. Tomas first offered Bachelor of Literature in Journalism
[1954] Developmental Communication began in UP-Los Ba�os under the College of Agriculture
[1956] Far Eastern University established a Department of Communication
[1962] Major in Agricultural Communication was started in the Department of Agricultural Information (DAI) in UPLB
[1965] Up established the Institute of Mass Communication that offered A.B., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Communication
[1974] DAI was renamed Department of Developmental Communication
[1977] UPLB offered Ph.D. programs in communication followed by UP Diliman in 1982
