| Is 'Slain In The Spirit' Biblical? In many Charismatric Churches today we see this new phenomena known as being 'Slain In The Spirit' whereby people are said to be overtaken by the Holy Spirit and knocked unconscious to the floor. This can be achieved, as it is taught, by a person who has been 'anointed' by the Holy Spirit, touching the person or even pointing a finger at them from a distance! This is said to be evidence that the Holy Spirit has overtaken a person. Is this true according to the Bible? We think not! In fact it has no Biblical support other than truth twisted. You will not find the term 'Slain In The Spirit' mentioned anywhere in the Bible, nor will you find a single example of such. The passages that preachers or believers of this phenomena may use to convince you of this experience is completely taken out of text as all false prophets and teachers will do. Many who believe in the phenomena like to cite passages such as Genesis 15:12-2, Numbers 24:4, 1 Samual 19:20, and Matthew 17:6. But in each of these cases they are reading their own meaning into the text and taking the passage out of context as they do, to draw their own conclusion! As I witnessed a very young believer being 'slain in the spirit' he layed down carefully to his back and after a moment began to jerk about. Now I ask you, is this the Spirit of God or a demon posession? There is no power in laying on your back and the Spirit of God is of Power. When the Power of God comes on a believer or when you are overtaken by the Spirit, it results in Power. The Spirit gives us the Power to preach, teach, and heal, etc. The Spirit gives us the power to do that in which we could not do in and of ourselves going beyond the natural ability even into the supernatural. Renown Occult expert, Kurt Kosh has studied the occult for years and this particular phenomena slain in the spirit, speaking in tongues (apart from Scripture), holy laughter, etc., is one of the most dangerous weapons the devil is using against the Christian today. Here is a man who has studied occultism and satanism his whole life and is considered an expert and he says even as I do, STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF IT. He has a book called Occult ABC that can be purchased at almost any book store. The Bible says God is not the author of confussion, and to let all things be done decently and in order! (1 Corinthians 14:33,40) To have women being knocked prostrate to the floor in a church service and having special 'modesty blankets' to cover them from exposing themselves ought to speak for itself! There are some sincere Christians that have unaware gotten themselves involved in these practices but that doesn't make it right. "Study to show yourself as one approved" and these things will not decieve you. What does the Bible say should be your first thought when confronted with things of such. Know this that the Holy Spirit would not be involved in empowering anyone who acts against the Word of God but you better also believe that satan will. We cannot flock to every wonderous thing and think it is of God especially when it is contrary to the Word of God. 'Yes, but' is a sure ticket to hell. Jesus Christ is Lord, 'Yes, but', The Bible says don't, 'Yes, but'. The HEAVENWARD Christian says things like, 'Thus saith the Lords' or 'It is written'. We are the ones that hold fast to the truth and not wavering to a feeling. We can all disagree on minor things and thats okay, but incourage people to get involved in something that is unBiblical and even occultic and demonic crosses the border to extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all cost. There is no Scripture support for any such a thing in the Bible! If you are involved with it, ask God to deliver you from it immediately! The Bible teaches that satan and the powers of darknes can do 'miracles' (2 Thess.2:9) and many people, even Christians will be deceived! Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord... |
