Spiritual Gifts:
Jesus teaches among spiritual gifts, which to prefer and that the principal for all graces is the essence of God Himself, Love. I have heard preached that our desires should be object oreinted and object focused but Christ teaches that spiritual gifts should be our object of desire, Seek ye first...

He who speaks with tongues may edify himself and others can reap no benefit from his speech. The constant misuse of this gift could suggest a self-centered person, ones concern that focuses only on self. Ignorance plays no excuse in the matter because the Word is very clear on thew subject of spiritual gifts. We are then confronted with rebellious disobedience saying "Regardless of what the Word says, I'm doing it like this".

The end of speaking in the church is to edify the church to which which prophesying is immediately preferred, the best gift which does the most good. Every gift is a favour from God, but those that are to be most valued are those that are most useful, to the church. In sports they say, "No one person is bigger than the team," so let us to run the race as too win the prize. Greater is he who interprets scripture (prophecy) to edify the church than he who speaks tongues to recommed himself. Oh, prophesying is not fortune telling, as you see so many make the mistake of.

Words without meaning can convey no notion nor instruction to the mind; and words not understood have no meaning. Paul is teaching that there are many kinds of voices (v. 10) in the world, none without its proper significance. But whatever proper  significance the words of any language may have to those who understand them, they are perfect gibberish to men of another language. In this case, speaker and hearers are barbarians to each other, they talk and hear only sounds without sense. To speak in the church in an unknown tongue is to talk gibberish. We must always remember that our words in the church are to be for th eedification of the church.

Paul gives specific instruction on th use of "speaking in tongues." First of all there are to be
no more than 2 or 3 to do it at one meeting and this, one after the other and was not to be done unless there was someone to interpret, he was to be silent in the  church, and only exercise his gift between God and himself. Some church you see and hear 10, 15 people speaking in tongues, no one to interpet. And two or three and one meeting when you hear 10 or 15 everytime15 minutes in one meeting. Why, there might be false prophets and th etrue prophets were to judge these and discover who was devinely inspired and who was not. We must understand also, prophecy and tongues as well is not an uncontrolable emotional ecstacy. Paul insists that these gifts should be controlled by the recipient themselves. Consider this, tongues are a sign, not for the believers but the unbelievers; prophecy however is for believers, not for unbelievers.

Consider this; a false teacher or preacher will insist on you to say Amen. Why is this? Amen or Aman means "It is true or So be it," it is the believers confession of agreement with the words spoken, so you are coerced into agreement and by this giving power to what is not true, an opposition to the True Word fo God. Agree only to that in which you agree and when you can agree to it. Some times we have to do our Amens later when we have tested the spirits and/or confirmed the truth. Recognize the power in your words and you will speak more carefully not so inclined to agree with every wind of doctrine you hear. Thus it is important that a message in tongues be interpreted, thus it is imparitive that these God Breathed instructions be followed.

Conclusion:
Hebrews 2: 1-4
1. We must pay more careful attention therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience recieved its just punishment, 3. how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
