What is memory
stick?

Today there are a wide variety of recording media available, such as tapes,
discs and IC recording media. These media differ in their features, including
compactness, capacity, ease of use, data access, transfer speeds and cost
performance, and can be chosen according to personal needs and preferences.
The most remarkable among these types of media are IC recording media, also
known as silicon media. Using an IC to store data, IC recording media offer
compact high capacity, allow high-speed data read/write and excel in
expandability to ensure copyright protection and the addition of new functions.
IC recording media are also unique in that a single media can be used to store,
transfer and share all kinds of digital data -- photos, voice, music, moving
pictures and PC data. These media are particularly well suited for use with
compact mobile devices, because they require no drive mechanism and are
unaffected by vibration.
In addition to the features of IC recording media, Memory Stick
defines a variety of data formats to enable seamless data sharing and exchange
among compatible products from different manufacturers.
That's why Memory Stick can be called the network media that
links people and products to a powerful world of digital communication.
The Memory Stick platform provides a broad line of media and
compatible products to respond to versatile needs in an advanced digital
environment. Versatile, dependable and simple to use, Memory Stick
can be transported and enjoyed anywhere, any time -- at home, in a car or
outdoors.
