Allow me to introduce you to my dog, Muddy Waters. She is a female Border Collie, born July 18, 1998. My guess is that she'll be about 50 lbs. when full grown. Muddy sends special greetings (mostly tail wags, licking, and chewing at this point) to the Granddogs, to Kuya Sammy, and to Ninong Ron.

OK Muddy -- stay. STAY. (good girl).

We met Muddy at a breeder's in Richmond, Virginia. When she picked us out, she looked like a waddling black and white ball of fuzz. Muddy at 5 weeks, Richmond, VA

However, we were quickly sold. Kate with Muddy at 5 weeks, Richmond, VA

I thought I might just have to stuff her in my pocket and be off with her right then and there, but we waited two more weeks so she could be properly weaned. Muddy at 5 weeks, Richmond, VA

We brought her home on Labor Day, 1998. She was already visibly larger. Muddy at 8.5 weeks, Washington, DC

At first, she mostly just piddled about the house (literally), and woke us up at all hours. Evenually, though, I started her with a little fetch. Her basic ball handling skills, however, were still mostly limited to "puppy expressions." Muddy at 8.5 weeks, Washington, DC

One interesting thing was that she came to really like this deck chair. Only problem: this is "Daddy's" chair, not puppy's chair. Muddy at 8.5 weeks, Washington, DC

I said, DADDY'S chair! Muddy at 8.5 weeks, Washington, DC

As you can see, Muddy appears to get larger every day. Muddy at 10 weeks, Washington, DC

The larger size has its advantages, though. Now she's had all her shots, so she can go outside; but the main advantage is that with larger dog comes correspondingly larger bladder! Thus, she sleeps through the night, and she's pretty much housebroken. Don't we look happy? Kate with Muddy at 10 weeks, Washington, DC

She's really smart, too, and takes well to training. I figure today, a little obedience; tomorrow, world frisbee dog champ. Heck, maybe after that, law school! (After all, she's smarter than the college kids next door.) Muddy at 12 weeks, Washington, DC

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for catching up with us. Say bye Muddy! We'll be back soon!
