DANIEL LEVAN
Daniel LeVan (1)

Born in Picardy, France, abt.1680,     died in Amsterdam Holland.
Married in Picardy, France to Millie. Marie Beau, born abt. 1676 in France
She died in Amsterdam, Holland.
Married about 1705 in Picardy France

They had six known children:
Abraham,b. May 20, 1698 in Amsterdam, Holland
 
Isaac, b. abt. 1700in Holland  Jacob, b. abt. 1702 in Holland, Joseph,
Daniel, born abt. 1706 in Holland & Anna Elizebeth.

The Rev. A. Stapleton, in his "Memorials of the Huguenots in America" published in 1901, now out of print, says........About 1715, four sons of the refugee (Daniel LeVan set out for Pennsylvania. They were Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph (who died at sea). They were followed in 1727 by their brother Daniel. All settled in the limits of Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Born about 1700 in Amsterdam, Holland. Died 1783 in Exeter, near Reading, PA>
Married Mary Margaret who died before 1786.

They had six children: Abraham, Isaac,
Jacob, Daniel, Maria, & Judith


Jacob LeVan  (3)

Son of Isaac & Mary Margaret LeVan

Born about 1738 in Exeter, PA. Died January 22, 1814. Buried on Cyrus LeVan farm
Married Susanna Ludwig , 6/14/1763, who died December 16, 1821.

They had 13 children:  Abraham,
Daniel, Jacob, Margaret, Judith, Susanna, Elizabeth, Mary,
                                 Hannah,
Samuel,Catherine, & Sarah

Son of Jacob & Susanna LeVan

Born in Roaring Creek Columbia, Co, PA. 1765
Married ?? Beaver

They had 5 children: 
Daniel, Dewalt, Catherine, Sarah, & Benjamin

                 
At this time the LeVan family splits, and the Huguenot blood mixes
                  with native Indian blood through the marriage of Benjamin LeVan
                  to Mary Poe. The family of Mary Poe had the Indian blood line.

Born in 1785, Columbia County, PA.
Married Elizabeth Houk

They had 14 children: 
Benjamin, Joseph, John, Solomon, Charles, Peter, Daniel, Ruthana,
                                 Lana, Eliza, Christina, Mary, and two others who died in infancy.

Benjamin LeVan  (6)

Son of Daniel and Elizabeth LeVan   

Born 1827 in Mainville, Columbia County, PA. Died in 1903, buried at Freewill Church, Numedia County, PA.
Married Christina Drishbaugh, who died in 1921. She is buried at Almedia, Columbia County, PA.

They had 12 children: Lawson, Lewis, William Harrison,
Stephen, Joseph, Isaiah, Rosetta,
                                Mary, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Minerva, & Melinda


Stephen LeVan  (7)

Son of Benjamin & Christina Drishbaugh LeVan

Born December 13, 1861 in Roaring Creek, PA. Died October 31, 1942
Married Rebecca Henshaw, born 1866. Died 1939
    
They had six children: 
Adam, Fred, Beulah, Dollie, Margaret, & Virginia


 
Adam LeVan  (8)

Born January 30, 1896 in Grovania, PA. Died May 5, 1975 in Muncy Valley Hospital
Married Florence Wark, born April 8, 1894 in Mount Carmel, PA. Died January 4, 1988
    in Berwick, PA.

They had four children:  William, Dorothy, the other two children died in infancy.


Adam moved to Berwick, PA. where he worked in the American Car &  Foundry Company until a near fatal work injury that caused the loss of an eye. The injury happened one week before he was to try out for the Pittsburg Pirates baseball team. He later moved to Lairdsville, PA. where he opened a hotel and restaurant business. Upon retirement he sold the business but remained near by Unityville, PA. The hotel still retains the original name, "The Lairdsville Hotel".

Both Adam & Florence are buried in Rose Lawn Cemetary in Berwick, PA.
