Jacob Levan
Born about 1702 in Amsterdam, Holland
Died in 1768 at Eagle Point, Maxatawny Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania

Jacob was a farmer and a miller. He was a Justice of the Peace from 1732 until his death in 1768.

The name was spelled LeVan rather than Levan until they came to America where the capitalization of the "V" was dropped.

Jacob's farmsite was known as Eagle Point. Around 1740 he erected a sawmill and gristmill on Mill Creek on his farm near Kutztown, Maxatawny Township, which has remained in the family for eight generations; it was operated in the 1930's by Jacob G. Levan. His original house was torn down in 1840 and replaced by the present structure.

The Levans also had a Mill and Tannery on Maiden Creek just south of Wanamakers, and about 3/4 mile upstream from the Brobst Mill.

Jacob's will was dated MArch 10, 1760 (or 1766), probated March 12, 1768.
