Isaac LeVan |
||||||||
Born about 1700 in Holland. |

Isaac LeVan settled in what was Jacksonwald, Exeter Tp Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was probably the most well to do of the pioneer brothers. He owned 1000 acres of land, including numerous lots in Reading, PA. In 1770, he moved to Reading, where he died in 1783. He was associated in business with Conrad Weiser of Reading and Womelsforf, PA., who for many years was interpreter and intermediary between the Pennsylvania authorities and the Indians, thus preventing many Indian uprisings. Together Isaac LeVan and Conrad Weiseer secured the original property for the congregation of the oldest Reform Church in Reading, PA. Isaac's neice Esther, daughter of brother Daniel LeVan of Maxatawny Tp Berks County, PA. marrried Conrad Weiser's son Benjamin from Heidleberg Tp, B.C. PA. Isaac's own daughter Judith, married Samuel Weiser. No greater factor in the early settlement of Pennsyvania existed the Conrad weiser, with the exception of William Penn. It is therefore noteworthy of how closely allied the Weiser and LeVan familes were. |
