The Cactus Creek Golf Association was formed in 2005, with its Constitution and By-Laws agreed and signed by the Board of Directors in October of that same year. The purpose of the club is: * To stimulate interest in the game of golf world-round, by bringing together golfers desirous of forming a sporting organization. * To promote and foster among the members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions. * To encourage conformance to the "USGA Rules of Golf" and the "Royal and Ancient Rules of Golf" by creating a representative authority. * To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the USGA Handicap System and issue USGA Handicap Indexes to club members. * To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct club competitions. With this purpose in mind, the club was formed as a Club Without Real Estate, which simply means the club is a virtual organization. Members play golf at any public or private course that is open to them and where the they can play golf together regularly. The CCGA is recognized by the United States Golf Association as a registered golf club and is a 2006 member in good standing. The club's activities include--among other things--organization of club-sponsored golf tournaments at various courses throughout Switzerland. These tournaments may be played at various courses or combinations of courses and may cover a period other than one day. The club also organizes social and business networking events for club members to help foster comaraderie and fun off the putting green. In addition, the club organizes activities that help members learn more about the game of golf. This last category of activity focuses attention both on the individual's game and on the evolution of the game itself; through better understanding of the rules of golf, one plays the game more knowledgably and with greater confidence in the rules that govern the game. Club membership is open to any golfer above the age of 18 that has an interest in fostering and promting the mission and purpose of the club. It also helps when individuals have access to email and the Internet, as these are the club's primary communication tools. Currently, the club is centered in the Zurich, Switzerland region, as most of the members reside in or around the city. As a requirement of USGA club status, members must have the opporutnity to play golf together regularly. Thus, even if one of the members travels often--for work or pleasure--he or she can maintain membership when the opporutnity to play presents itself.
