| Overall, the training it takes to be in the Air National Guard takes about 19 weeks to accomplish. First is basing training in the Air Force, that takes about 6 weeks. Here you have your head shaved and you get your new uniform. Here you learn how to do everything together with the others in your flight, from using the restroom and taking showers to walking and running in step. For the first 2 weeks they spend trying to break you down and sort the weak from the military material, and the next 4 weeks trying to build you and your flight back up into a team. Next you go to Maintenance school for 9 weeks. Here you learn to work on old airplanes of every size. Next you go to FTD school where you learn ho to work on some newer airplanes that are still functional. After 4 weeks there you are done with training and you are assigned to your home unit. |
