| Psychological Coach Perception What is it? It is the analysis of coaching behaviour by players under a specific coach, and the effects of it on the development of the same players. So, we are basically asking players to identify aspects about the behaviour of their coach, and how it can be improved to better facilitate learning. What does it include? PCP includes: - basic player background information - specific player traits - situational perceived self-behaviour - interactional perceived self-behaviour - desired coaching characteristics and their importance - specific coach influence on: * motivation * team cohesion * skill development * stress, anxiety and arousal Why is it important? Our study, research and educational tool are all designed to assist coaches in identifying ways to better facilitate learning from the perspective of their players. This is not how to make you into a better coach, rather to better facilitate learning and psychological health of the players you coach. How to use the PCP? It may be slightly complex, but hopefully highly effective. But here are steps that will help you gain full benefit from using the PCP: 1. Get your players to take/fill-out the PCP Questionnaire form (download/online) 2.Tally up scores from each section 3. Refer to the following pages for what to do for received scores on each section: - Section 1 Part A: Intrinsic Traits refer to Player Education - Section 1 Part B: Situational Traits refer to Player Education - Section 1 Part C: Interactional Traits refer to Player Education - Section 2 : Ideal Coach Characteristics refer to An Ideal Coach - Section 3 Part A: Motivation refer to Education & Improvement - Section 3 Part B: Team Cohesion refer to Education & Improvement - Section 3 Part C: Skill Development refer to Education & Improvement - Section 3 Part D: Stress, anxiety & arousal refer to Education & Improvement |
