Philosophy on training & coaching
“Success is not always
the same as winning”
My Theory of Intercollectivism
-
I believe that all men should live life in accordance to God’s original Laws or Commandments.
-
Everyone deserves a second chance.
-
Hard work and dedication always pays off.
-
Putting forth the effort to succeed is just as important, if not more important, as winning.
The Body
Sport is 80% mental, the mind and the body must be trained to be tough
and not easily broken.
Drills and Exercises must be goal specific, yet flexible and progressive
enough to evolve with the athlete.
Athletes must condition their entire body to maintain physiological
balance and minimize injuries.
Curricular
My focus is both subject and student centered with an emphasis on the
quality of practices.
Positional breakouts will be based on individual player positions.
I do not feel that a practice needs to last longer than 2 hours, in an
effort to minimize lethargic players and stagnation.
The Teacher
I must model the actions that I expect of my athletes and set good
examples for them to follow.
I must make all drills efficient and effective so that all my athletes
benefit to the fullest extent.
I must make sure I motivate my players to be their best on and off the
court, with or without supervision.
I will guide my players in the right direction for life, because sport
isn’t one dimensional it’s about building life skills.
I will be there to listen and give advice to my players when they need
me, whether its sports related or not.
Objective
I want my athletes to learn life skills through basketball. I will help them develop into adults that will benefit the society they live in. They will be people who understand right from wrong and make decisions based on a higher sense of integrity as opposed to just avoiding punishment.
Methodology
I will use film, question-answer, and one-on-one sessions to gain and
provide feedback for my athletes and help them gauge their performance.
All drills performed will be specific to our sport or an athlete’s
specific position in that sport.
