The 22nd ARS provides forward logistics support for the 366th Aerospace Wing of the UNAF. This includes refueling and forward resupply of the VF/A-24, VF-19, and VF-17 fighters and YB-5 bombers of the 366th AW. Alternately, the 22nd ARS provides military aerospace lift functions as well as battlefield suppression roles as needed with the MS-42 Sky Mule and AS-42 Kicking Mule variants of the Tanker Mule transport.

The 22nd ARS is the first unit to operationally use the KS-42 Tanker Mule transport.
