Sabroske Electric, Inc., in Fremont, Ohio, celebrated 67 years of business in January of 1997. Contractor Tom Decker credits much of Sabroske's success to his strong core of employees and high customer return rate. Employing up to 30 people, Sabroske specializes in industrial service and takes pride in doing the job right and the first time. Decker bought into the Sabroske family business in the late 1970s and took over the company in the 1980s. He chose to keep the Sabroske name due to its familiarity and quality reputation. "We have one of the best crews of anybody I've ever seen in the business," said Decker. "We've got people who have been around a long time. Old people retire and young people step right in. In several cases, we are using second and third generations of families. We have a quality bunch of people." Decker also credits much of Sabroske's success to the Local No.8, as his workload can change within a phone call. "With the type of work that we do, I don't know how we would get along without the union," said Decker. "We have a core of people and then if we need help, we call Local No.8 to fill our gap. Without that pool of people to help us, we just couldn't perform." Decker maintains an open relationship with the union and is very positive as to its direction. "The relationship with the union has been as good as it ever has been, almost unbelievably good," said Decker. "They are thinkin into the future now as opposed to the old methods of management and labor fighting all the time." |
