August 8, 2001-Nothing exciting today. Heartbeat is good and my blood pressure is still behaving. Thank goodness! They gave me my drink for the glucose tolerance test I have to take at my next appointment, but that was about all.
Next appointment is August 29.
August 29, 2001-Had to drink that yucky stuff for my glucose test. Gladly, it did not make me sick. At least it was the orange kind. When I was pregnant a few years ago it was the old kind that looked like pepsi or coke. That kind tasted even worse. Blood pressure is still behaving. I have a rash on my abdomen that itches, but I get it every time I am pregnant. I can deal with it just being on my abdomen because when I was pregnant with my oldest boy, I had it from head to toe. I had to stand in the shower 4 or 5 times a day just so that it didn't itch so much. The only thing that got rid of it, (after Griffin was born), was Prednisone. I had tried all kinds of medicine before that, but nothing worked. They called it P.U.P.P. Some kind of pregnancy induced rash. I still have some scarring from all of the scratching that I did. Next appointment is September 12.
August 31, 2001-Dr.'s office called and said that my bloodwork was low, like my iron count. So, they've prescribed some iron and vitamin C tablets. I have been feeling tired lately, hopefully the extra vitamins will help.
September 12, 2001-Nothing exciting today. Blood pressure was good. Had a little bit of protein in my urine, but nothing to worry about. Was supposed to have a pap smear redone because my last two were abnormal, but I just had an infection, so Mary decided to wait until my next appointment which is September 26.
November 3, 2001-Sorry I haven't updated. My last appointments were not exciting. Nothing new going on. Everything is great. I did have a baby shower. I certainly hope it is a girl or he will have to wear dresses. My cerclage comes out Monday, November 5. I am excited, nervous, scared, happy and sad all at the same time. I am also having a hard time deciding which hospital to deliver at. The hospital my dr. delivers at is pretty crappy. The hospital that is only 5 minutes from me has a beautiful birthing center, but the dr.'s aren't as good. I think I have finally decided to switch dr.'s so that I can deliver at the closer hospital, but I am scared that if something goes wrong during labor, that the new dr. will do the wrong thing.
November 5,2001-Had my cerclage taken out today. Hooray!! Only problem was that the doctor couldn't find the second stitch that he had put in. I didn't ask why. All I know is that it was definitely uncomfortable. Usually it's no big deal, but this time I was actually saying, "Ouch!". Thank goodness he finally got it, otherwise I would have had to go back to the hospital and had anaesthesia in order to have it removed. Everything else was okay and all in all I'm just glad it's over. Now all that's left is waiting. I'm excited and I'm nervous. My next appointment is November 15 if I don't change dr.'s.
November 13, 2001-I switched dr.'s so that I could deliver at the hospital closer to me. My 4 year old was born there. I feel awful that I am switching, but I feel more comfortable at this hospital. The dr. said that I am 1 to 2 centimeters already. I'm so glad. However, there is still a problem with my due date. It was originally the 19th, but it was changed to the 30th after an ultrasound early on. Now they are telling me that the date of my last period is more accurate than the ultrasound. So as long as I am sure of the date, they are saying that I AM due the 19th. The dr. also said that the baby is a good size, which is no surprise considering that my smallest baby was 7 and 1/2 pounds. I have lots of Braxton-Hicks, but nothing real yet. I am getting very anxious. I have my bag all packed and I think I have everything else I need. I bought lots of pink things in case the baby is a girl. I told everyone if the baby is a boy, he is going to have to wear the dresses because this is my last chance for a girl! :0) My next appointment is the 20th, but I hope to be out of the hospital by then. November is a VERY busy month for me and I have a million things to do, like bake pies for Thanksgiving! I will keep you posted. Wish me luck!
