| Biology Lesson Plan Human Reproduction |
| This is a sample of a Biology lesson plan that I've completed for a Biology Methodology course. The unit is on Human Reproduction, and is from Biology 3201 (Grade 11 or 12 Biology) Lesson Plan for Human Reproduction Section 2.6 in Level III Biology More specifically Objective 2.6.1.1 List the major structures of the male and female reproductive systems and explain the function(s) of each structure. Purpose: To meet the objective set forth for 2.6.1.1. Motivation: It is often easier for students to retain information if they work in groups, and have visual stimulation. This is also an easy way to informally view who understands what has been taught recently, and to see if there are any problems , ie. to evaluate how effective I was in teaching the material. Organization: The topic is Human Reproduction, and more specifically, the reproductive systems of males and females, in Biology 3102. I have constructed 4 pages (for 4 groups) of the male and female reproductive systems that the students will get into groups to label. (Group size will depend on the number of students present on the specific day, but should be 4 or 5 per group.) Closure: After reviewing the diagrams and functions / descriptions, I will close by asking if there are any questions and introducing the next topic - the production of sperm and eggs. Lesson Plan 3 - 4 minutes - Review the past few classes on reproduction. - Introduce and explain what they are to do with the diagrams (label the specified parts with the labels provided) - Students should be listening for instructions, or asking any questions on what they have to do 5 - 7 minutes - Facilitator - Responding to questions, if any - Group Work - Labeling the diagrams 12 - 17 minutes - Reviewing the correct labels for the specified diagrams - Asking the class to give information of the specific part of the reproductive system, ie. a description or function - Responding to questions concerning the answers for the labeling - Responding to questions concerning the functions or descriptions for the specified parts - Asking general questions 2 minutes - Closure - Asking if there are any further questions, making sure that everyone is comfortable with the preceding information, so that we can start on the next topic next class. - Introduce the next topic - comparing the production of sperm and eggs. - Asking questions, if any, for clarity Diagrams for Male and Female Reproductive Systems. |
