Defining
the Spheres of Influence requires us to look upon the formation of Earth,
Air, Water, and Fire according to the dictates of the Life as it is presented
here in the Castle. Granted the elements of which we are about to elaborate
upon are not seen altogether visibly working within the Castle, but these
Spheres impact and influence our lives as investigators.
1. The Sphere of
Air slowly erodes the Earth, subtly alters Water to flow in a chosen
form, whether it is as Ice or as Liquid, and Air life giving breathe
to the Fire.
2. The Sphere of
Fire alters the way Air circulates, rages as the inferno and dissipates
the Water into a New state of existence, and its terrible fury scorchers
the Earth to rebirth.
3. The Sphere of
Water seeps into the Earth and alters it into a a more malleable state,
its very weight forces the Air aside when it is in its torrential state,
and in large quantities, it smothers the very life force out of Fire.
4. The Sphere of
Earth is the strongest of the Elements, giving a place for Fire to Feed,
the Air to buffet, and Water a course to follow, and yet its very strength
is also its greatest weakness, for it can not live without the other
spheres.
5. The Umbra enfolds
all the spheres of influence, combining the weaknesses and the strengths
of each sphere into a singular whole. It is the Umbra that work as investigators
of the supernatural phenomena in the Castle.
6. The Continuum
belongs to those that walk unseen and unheard. These are the members
who have Mastered the four spheres of Influence. These are the Select
few who have the gift to Blend in with the Shadows they Investigate,
and perhaps the ability to alter the very essence of those Shadows.
It
is the very mysteries of the different states of existence that our society
is based upon. No singular phenomena, no singular action, nor individual
is the same. Each compliments the other, each having a weakness and yet
offers a strength to the other states of existence. These are the tenets
the Keepers of the Unveiled are built upon. These spheres of influence
are what make us uniquely adept in the arts of Intrigue, manipulating
dark subterfuges, covertly investigate, and eventually bring about the
balance of Justice for the different social organizations in the Outer
Bailey.
