Back
                            To a Lover

Did you think of me?
When you lay in the dark,
Or did you dwell upon the silence;
The things that you must not let slip,
Soft enfolding lies that made up your day,
And when he took you in his arms,
Did you remember nights of gentleness?
Or were they dreams of daytime trysts,
The passion of forbidden moments,
Stolen from the drudgery.
Whos name rose to your lips,
As you murmured gently in your sleep?
     Was it mine,
The secret that was always kept,
Until in rage it could be used,
A weapon sharp enough to sunder all that bound you,
And now we meet no more ,
   Do you still remember me?
Or have I gone the way of all old memories,
Stored until  that time when age,
Awakens them as though they were but yesterday.
For I still think of you,
Those lazy days and flawless nights,
And still your perfume lingers,
On the pillows of my mind.
