Back
                               Loss

Salt remembrance burns my eyes,
  As forever golden memories unwind;
Within the void.
To fade in this cold existence,
   Cold now as your arms.
I still feel the touch of your hand,
That soft caress,
Of tenderness to the child,
And even now with time,
I hear your voice,
Echoing in the far corners of my mind,
  In the stillness,
     In the darkness,
        Through the hours as sleep eludes me.
  When still I scream silently,
    Haunted by the past;
   By those omissions that were never thought
important.
Paying for sins,
Invented by the loving heart,
All past now beyond redemption.
