Back
                    Summer

Lazy summer days,
Where children run across the green,
Beneath a sky the colour of a baby's eyes,
Until they fall upon the grass,
  Caught deep within,
The soft web of sunlight and birdsong,
   The gentle calls a,
    Punctuation of the hours
  Gasping for breath,
Amongst the laughter,
Then up once more,
Again to map the carefree day with play,
      To the envious gaze,
Of those who have forgotten youth.
Above the pigeons coo their pleasure in the sun
       Matching the games,
         They too perform ~~
With lazy spirals in a summer sky,
Fast tumbling leaves,
                    From a living tree,
That never strike the ground,
Just soaring in an invisible breeze,
To chase the sun.
