Smoke Jumpers

Imagine jumping out of a plane.  Sounds like enough for one day, doesn't it?  Well, then imagine fighting fire for days afterward, with little food, water or rest.  This is job of the smoke jumper.  Because fires run on seasons, the smoke jumpers are also seasonal.  They work only during the summer.  (Most of the jumpers are seasonal, so they come in April or June and stay until laid off in September.)  These men and woman for from all walks of life during the winter months:  teachers, students, ski resort workers, or any other seasonal based career.  They go through an extensive program run by the Forestry Service, and enter work.
