This site contains examples of the paintings of Clive Wilkins produced PRIOR to the start of his book project, entitled 'The Creatures in the Night', & a brief resume of his art curriculum vitae For many connoisseurs and art lovers this is an 'online' opportunity to see the work of one of the UK's best figurative artists. His work is in demand and often moves from his studio straight into private collections on completion.
His recent 'CREATURES IN THE NIGHT' project has involved producing thirty-one paintings over a five year period. The work was beautifully published in May 2008 by Dingley Press and can be obtained from the publisher, Amazon, or any good bookshop. There was a major One Man Show & preview of this work at Petley Fine Art, Cork Street. LONDON during March 2005.

Clive is currently producing a series of paintings based on themes from Don Quixote. He is also working on two books; a picture book entitled 'Mannikin' and a novel whose working title is ' Moustachio' .
' THE CREATURES IN THE NIGHT' was published in May 2008. A picture/story book written and illustrated by the artist. It is all about clever ideas & wonderful visions within a particular framework. The framework is simply there to provide the continuity, and will allow sense to be made of some very beautiful, bizarre and dynamic images'.
The story is a very simple narrative, within which the text and Images can be read on a variety of different levels. It can be read as a simple children's story, however the mature visually literate and sophisticated reader will have a field day unravelling the myriad hidden references and allusions to art history, literature, and world culture. The book can prompt thought into the very nature of reality, despite its main purpose being entertainment!
It is the kind of book you might have been interested too see as a child and still want to have with you as an adult; because as we grow and become increasingly sophisticated we discover more levels of meaning in the world around us & are able to make more connections about what may be going on.. Its a kind of puzzle book which only over time will reveal its many secrets.
