| Programs offered through NRCS: Conservation Security Program (CSP)-A voluntary conservation program that supports ongoing stewardship of private agricultural lands by providing payments for maintaining and enhancing natural resources. This program promotes conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant, animal life, and other conservation purposes on private working land. A watershed in Clinton County was chosen for this program in 2005. Click here to find a list of new watersheds for CSP. Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)-Provides technical and financial assistance to eligible farmers and ranchers to address soil, water, and related natural resource concerns on their lands in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner. Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP)-A voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance wetlands on their property. Grassland Reserve Program (GRP)-A voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance grasslands on their property. This includes grassland, rangeland, pastureland, shrub land and certain other lands and provides assistance for rehabilitating grasslands. Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)-A voluntary program for people who want to develop and improve wildlife and fish habitat primarily on private lands. Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)-Develop and follow a plan that describes the conservation and environmental purposes to be achieved. This program addresses natural resource issues associated with livestock operations and agricultural production. | Programs offered through the Clinton County SWCD: The state cost-share (Conservation Practice Program-CPP) available through the Illinois Department of Agriculture is back!!! This year Clinton County will receive a small amount of money to do conservation practices. Please check with our office to discuss possible projects that you might have so you can be placed on list. Several TMDL watersheds in the County have also been selected for additional cost share money. |
