Pre - Clinical and Third Year Calendar

Use this calendar as a GUIDE for what to expect during Third Year. Bayshore does not provide anything like this, so DES- St. Vincent was good enough to compile this information in a concise manner and make this available to all of us.

Take USMLE Step 1

USMLE Step 1 Info:

What is tests:	Basic Sciences
When to sign up:	At least one month before your selected eligibility period.
When to take it:	August Class: June / July January Class: Feb / May
Minimum Passing Score:	182
# of Questions:	350 multiple choice questions on computer
Duration:	7 blocks (60 minutes each) of 50 questions

Step 1 scores should be received by mid-August (takes up to 6 weeks)

Fax Step 1 score sheet to Office of Clinical Studies at Fax #: 631-665-3627

Receive permanent placement letter from the Office of Clinical Studies by late August

Find housing in assigned clinical area (unless you want to take a chance and get housing / SO jobs before this time.

Third Year Calendar**

July - September	Begin clinical rotations by early September (most hospitals start first or second week in September)
September - July	3rd Year Clinical Rotations:Required Cores: Medicine 12 weeks Surgery 12 weeks Pediatrics 6 weeks Psychiatry 6 weeks Ob / Gyn 6 weeks Total 3rd Year 42 weeks
March - April	Begin scheduling Fourth Year Electives
June - July	Request residency applications directly from hospitals. Register with ERAS and/or NRMP.
