Challenge One -
100 km cycle over 2 days where i use a lightweight menu and camping along the way.......

On the 4th and 5th of August myself and 11 other members of 3rd Carlow Borris cycled from Borris in Carlow to Rosslare in Wexford.  The weather was really nice for the day.  We had lunch in Jenny's grans house near new ross and then had a snack break in Wexford.  We arrived in Rosslare 5hrs later at 5'oclock and checked into the hostel.... we then did a bit of shopping in Super valu in rosslare and had dinner in the local chippers,,, we ended up playing games on the beach and were in bed knackered by 10pm... we woke nice and early the next morning and coooked up a lovely fry for all.... it was a lovely activity and really was enjoyable.
Challenge Two
I completed this activity on the side of mount leinster near Borris.... it was a 24hr survival, as part of the challenge Jennifer had to build a Bivi 6ft high off the ground.  The weekend started on the side of the mountain where we had to pick a site for the bivi, jennifer picked here area for her bivi and we decided to build the other bivi for the boys beside it... a fire was built and a few seats where created from old branches and stones..... we cooked  a survival dinner on open fire with no utensils which was gorgeous...... we stayed up all nigh telling ghost stories..... it got bad at one stage where some of the scouts actually wont go to bes as they were so scared.....
in the morning the gilrs were woken by a fox under the bivi... and it was discovered that the fox has stolen our leaders torch and one of the scouts runner......
Challenge Three -  Build a Raft and float it

As paet of this challenge Grainne decided she would like to run a base on the Carlow Kilkenny County Fia Challenge which was been run along the river barrow tow path from Borris to St Mullins on the 30th of March to 2nd April 06.  The base was going to consist of a raft that had to be rafted across the river (with all safety precautions implemented) and when they got to the other side the scouts and leaders had to find a mistery envelope on the island.  When the envelope was found they had to raft back.  In the envelopes was a MENSA quiz that the scouts over the course of the day had to figure out.  The day was a very cold day and we started off making the raft at 8am in the morning with the first parol due at the checkpoint at 11am.  We had a total of 86 scouts and 13 leaders take part in the base and the the raft held up very well considering this (apart from the leader from Ballyragget that broke one of the spars.....? I would like to Thank Adam and Jennifer who helped me run the base safely and enjoyable...... it was great crack.??
