Ostara
                                       March 21 st

Ostara(prononuced Oh-star-ah) or Spring Equinox, the day & night are on  equal timing. This is a time for blessing your seeds for planting. The Lord and Lady are both young and full of playful energy.

Ostara comes from the Goddess, Eostre(German)(or Eastre) Goddess of spring. The lore goes that she was communing with her forest creatures and flowers. A hare (rabbit) in her forest wished to give his Goddess a gift. Traveling through the forest he found an egg, he though about keeping it for himself seeing that the goddess had plenty. However, he changed his mind but he wanted to make it very special. So, he painted it with her colors of spring, Pale blues, yellows, greens, and her symbols. Once he was finished, he presented the egg to his Goddess. Eostre was so delighted with it's beauty that she wanted to share this gift with her children of earth . So every year the hare would decorate his eggs with color and give them to the children. Hmmm..now you know were the "Easter Bunny" came from.

If you notice the Easter weekend, will always follow after a full moon. This had it's purpose because pagans celebrated the full moon & Ostara at this time. They wanted to change the focus of this holiday with their own. The hare is a symbol of rebirth & renewal. The egg also a symbol of rebirth, and symbolic of the maiden (shell), mother (egg white) & crone (yolk, nucleus of the egg).
