The A-Team Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why did the show change so much during the
5th sesaon final?

As the television ratings of The A-Team fell dramatically during the fourth season the format was changed for the show's fith and final season in a bid to win back viewers the A-Team find themselves after years on the run from the authorities being apprehended by the military and put on trial for the murder of there Commanding Officer Colonel Samuel Morrison.

General Hunt Stockwell (Robert Vaughn) propositions them to work for him, where upon he will arrange for their pardons upon successful completion of several suicide missions. In order to do so, however, the A-Team must first escape from their captivity with the help of Frankie "Dishpan" Santana, the team fake their deaths before the firing squad and go to work for Stockwell.

The A-Team, now no longer working for themselves remained for the duration of the fifth season, and both Eddie Valez and Robert Vaughn were added to the credits. The missions the team had to perform in season five were less comical than previous and based more around political espionage than sorting out local thugs usually taking place in foreign countries. However, these changes proved unsuccessful with viewers and ratings which were supposedly the result of extensive "Market studies" conducted on the show and what people wanted to see and what they thought about each of the characters with the ending for "Family Reunion" being chosen by an audience Phone-in poll.

Only 13 episodes aired in the fifth season with the last episode "Without Reservations" airing on 3rd March 1987 during the March reruns as the episode was belived to have been lost infact the last should have been the "The Grey Team" which originally aired on 30th December 1986 this is backed up by both the episodes closing dialogue and the fact that in "Without Reservations" Murdock's T-shirt reads "Almost Fini" while in "The Grey Team" it says "Fini".
