The objective of this page is simple. It is designed as a handy reference and summary of many aspects of Nuclear Power. The inspiration for creating this page is both friends and family who didn't understand and many discussions on Yahoo! Message boards during which many of the myths surrounding the nuclear industry were constantly reiterated.
The anti-nuclear dogma is well entrenched in society. By constantly repeating these five second soundbytes they have convinced many people that nuclear power is dangerous and deadly and not worth having around.
It is unfortunate that this amazing technology has all the answers but they take much longer than five seconds to explain. A concerned individual is often swamped with data the minute they log on to a pro-nuclear site. A such, I will try to keep the info on this page as brief as possible as a counter point to the dogma that is out there.
In his book, The Case for Mars, author and engineer Robert Zubrin uses an anology between those who oppose a Mars mission and ancient mapmakers.
The mapmakers drew dragons and sirens on their maps. The dragons were the dangerous areas where no mariner should tred. The sirens were seductive and called the sailor off course.
I can't help but feel that this applies equally to the Nuclear industry. So here are the dragons and sirens on the Nuclear Power map.
