What brings you to this place?

This is a song I wrote about the 1798 Rising. I was in Ballina (for the All-Irelands) and in Castlebar last year, where major evens of the Rebellion occurred. After the rising was crushed in Wexford, the French landed in Mayo, to support the cause of Irish freedom. 200 years later, the French President, Jacques Chirac, came to Ireland to commemorate the occasion.

In this song, a young woman ceaselessly pursues her lover, a rebel in the Rising, until finally she finds him dying after the last battle.
