new ornaments 03

these are the ornaments to commemorate places and dates.

the y2k ornament is obvious. even though we received it for 1999, it will hang until 2000, so it is appropriate. and strange. i remember wondering as a child what it would be like to live in the year 2000 and now i find it is not all that different than living in 1976.

the blue handpainted ornament is to remind me of a wonderful trip my mother and i took together a few years ago. we drove through germany and stopped at an old walled city for lunch and a little shopping. seeing this brought back all manner of good memories. my mother is great that way, at finding the perfect thing to make me smile.
