new ornaments 01

these are the new ornaments for good luck in the new year.

both are traditional in germany, and it is rather surprising we haven't been blessed with chimney sweeps and mushrooms before now.

do you see the blurry little mushroom in the foreground? my mother sent a handful of these, each on its own green wire. i had great fun fastening them to the tree -- combined with some little candy canes they are going to help make it into a red and white extravaganza.
