1999 october 05buffy barqsso, the buffy season premiere is tonight. i've never watched an entire episode of the show even though i like vampires as well as the next recovering goth. it is just a little too-too for me, and i have to admit, a little too cultishly popular. it's petty, but i have been known to indulge in ridiculous backlash maneuvers: no buffy, no titanic, no backstreet boys or brittany spears. okay, i am justified in those last two, and you know it. i wonder how many journallers will mention buffy or her doomed lover angel in their entries tonight or tomorrow. i am guessing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 73%. every once in a while, i have a want-to-belong moment.
i had a three hour informal interview today; heaven help me when the formal one rolls around as i may well be there for three days.
after i tidied up my workspace at home, i thought long and hard about tidying up my entire work situation. hence, the interview. it is a young company but growing quickly and stuffed to the gills with great talents. and i don't just say that because i am friends with the owners and close to 50% of the employees. it is a haven for the best and brightest and if they'll have me, i think i will join them. we haven't talked money yet but i expect they can afford to at least match my current salary, so that isn't an issue. the issue right now is where i would be working and how much time i would spend away from home. the position i am looking at requires a lot of meetings with partners out of state which would mean some lifestyle changes for me. i'd be giving up a lot of free time here at the house, but i think what i will be building is a pretty fair exchange. even gene is willing to see a little less of me if it means we reach the goal of financial independence sooner rather than later. and i'd get to keep any earned frequent flyer miles. maybe i will watch that buffy girl to stop my brain from ruminating about the future, claire
