where did my weekend go?

saturday day was spent in a completely fruitless quest for the perfect file cabinets. i need one, gene needs one and the ones that will fit perfectly into our worlds seem not to have been invented as yet. well, one of them was invented, but at over 300 dollars, i chose to ignore its existence. about two we gave up the search, had lunch and wondered if the weather would clear up for the evening.

the weather did indeed clear up. it was blue skies and gentle breezes at 6:30 as hannah wed jack, outdoors at her sister's farm. all their friends and family were there, the cows kept their lowing to a minimum and pip, their australian sheepdog, only yelped twice during the ceremony. hannah looked gorgeous in an extremely simple gown--a sleeveless ivory sheath--with purple flowers in her french twist. jack looked extremely uncomfortable in his tux, but i suppose true jocks always do. his voice was strong and determined throughout the service, though, so i don't think he was nearly as nervous as he looked.

i looked particularly stunning myself, in my navy blue gauze and velvet dress and scarf. i had my hair pinned up in jeweled clips and for once all the curls curled as they were supposed to, tumbling gracefully from my crown to my shoulders. okay, i probably looked more like scary spice, but i like to maintain my self delusions.

sunday morning, grocery shopping. enough said.

i came home and concocted yet another extremely decadent dessert involving entirely too much chocolate and whipped cream, popped it into the car and then headed to the first annual picnic of the dysfunctional company that could.

it was the usual picnic stuff: barbecue, volleyball, water balloons, baseball, brownies. i came out of the whole deal with a slight sunburn across my nose and the part of my hair, and a heavy duty denim shirt embroidered with the company name. everyone received one, so didn't even feel special--more like a well dressed cow. moo!! i am a member of the company herd.

quick trip to the library after the picnic, to return some books then it was home for 60 minutes, and bed.

boring boring boring. if i am not going to get extra sleep on my weekend, i at least want it to be story worthy.

and monday wasn't much better, claire
