r.e.m.

i've been waking up at 230 in the morning since friday, obviously figuring i might as well get a jump on the whole thing. i am normally an early riser, a morning person, but this is bordering on the ridiculous. it means i go to work early and then have an overwhelming urge to take a nap about 11 a.m. -- too bad i don't have a bed there. i do have a couch, but i absolutely cannot sleep in public; can't do it on airplanes or trains or buses, especially can't do it at the office where i know what sort of creepy weasels might pop into my room at any time. it is a mighty good thing i don't have any major projects on my schedule just at the moment, else they would be in danger of not being done on time. hopefully, when the new projects are due to arrive, in three weeks time, i will be back on some sort of normal schedule. well, normal for me anyhow.

i don't know why we bother with this silly changing of clocks any more. it's not as if we are farmers and need the extra hours of workday sunlight daylight savings gives us. one of the few civilized things about arizona is their insistence on not participating in the whole spring forward, fall back idiocy; it is almost enough to make me forgive them for that walled sun city community with the golf carts on the streets.

official easter kills:

  • one entire semihollow cadbury chocolate bunny
  • ears and feet of one hollow see's chocolate bunny
  • one entire bag mini jellybeans, sans all black ones
  • one small handful large jellybeans, the good kind that come without the evil black ones
  • three small solid chocolate eggs
  • one hollow chocolate egg and the small chocolate duck that was hiding inside. as if he were safe there, silly duck.

i was watching cnn yesterday [yes, i know i shouldn't but i couldn't help myself]. a representative of the yugoslav foreign ministry, nebojsa vujovic, was spouting off as politicians in the middle of a conflict are wont to do. "you cannot stop the bird from singing, you cannot stop the cherry blossom from blooming, just as you cannot stop us from defending our country."

apparently we are taking the tack that you can shoot the bird and cut down the tree.

yawn, claire
