The end of April saw the beginning to 40 days of prayer and fasting for the YWAM Base here in Perth. It has been a time of seeing God move in people'e lives and in the corporate life of the base here.
But it is my own personal walk with the Lord that I would like to talk about here. I'm sure that is what you most want to hear about!
For a long time I have known that there is more. More to this life than what we see, more to our relationships with each other and with God than what we know. The words that the Holy Spirit has repetedley spoken to me have been simply, "Puruse Intimacy."
It has taken me a long time but I have found that there is really no higher calling for us while we are here on Earth than to "know" God. He certainly longs to be known by us. Out of an intimate relationship with the Lord will come the natural desire to share about Him with people who don't yet know Him.
So the desire for intimacy with with Holy Spirit has grown and continues to grow within me. Last week it got to the stage where I knew I did not want to take one more step without more of God. He has led me thus far but I wanted more. I spent almost the entire morning just weeping and sobbing before the Lord crying out for more of Him in my life. Since then I have heard his voice more clearly and understood when and how He is leading me. I am still hungry for more and I pray that I will never be satisfied until either I am in Heaven or Jesus returns. Only then will I "achieve" true intimacy with the Creator of the Universe.
I think of Jesus in his time of prayer and fasting. He was led there by the Spirit, filled with the Spirit and left that time empowered by the Spirit. There really is no greater calling for us as Christians than to be in tune with the Holy Spirit at all times. That is the only way we will see God's Kingdom come on this piece of rock we call Earth.
