BIOGRAPHY
John Frederick Dryer better known ,to his fans,as Fred Dryer was born July 6,1946 in Hawthorne,California.He weighted 7lb.8oz.,21"long.
He has blue eyes and now stands at 6'6" tall-has a tattoo of wild cat head on right sholder.He says he has big hands and feet but I think all his fans will agreed with me that he looks just great.
His father,Charles F.Dryer-a WW2 navy vet,comes from Covington,Kentucky.Passed away in 1963.
His mother,Genevieve Neil Clark,a native California.Passed away in 1994.
Fred was raised in Lawndale,Calif.and went to Lawndale High School and then on toElComino College.He attended San Diego State University and played defensive end #77 for the Aztecs,1967-1968.He was named First Team All-American in 1968.Played the College All-Star Game,East-West Shire Game and Hula Bowl in 1969.He received the Chase Memorial Trophy as schools top defensive lineman in 1968.In 1988 he was inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame.On May 28,1997 he was named to the College Football Hall of Fame.
In 1969,fred was drafted by the New York Giants.For three years he lived in a volkswagon van.
FRED:"I didn't know where to throw the anchor.Driving eventually became a form of therapy for me as I criss-crossed the United States and Canada several times during the off-seasons.Little things stick in my mind from those trips,like watching a Little League baseball game next to a truck stop in a small Kansas town.Truck drivers heating up hamburgers on the hoods of their rigs and drinking beer next to the diamond while the kids were playing."
In 1971,Fred left New York and returned to L.A..From 1972 to 1981,when he retired,he played for the L.A. Rams #89 defensive end.On October 21,1973,he set an NFL record-which has not been broken-by registering two safeties in a single game against Green Bay Packers.He made Pro Bowl in 1970 and 1975.In 1980 he played in the Super Bowl XIV.
Fred enjoys gourmet cooking,classical music,modern art and nascar racing.
