Country Roads

There are lovely routes all over the area inland of Deauville, without having any specific destination.  Here are my favorites:

From the Church...follow the D278 through Saint Arnoult.  At the Round, take the direction "Tourgeville, Dezoule", which keeps you on the 278.  Leaving St. Arnoult you will cross the D27 highway.  There are no traffic lights so be careful.  Now this is where road 278 becomes lovely and fun.   Shortly you will see a crossroad.  Make sure take the fork to the left which will keep you on the 278.  (Direction "St. Hillaire la Thillaye" and "Point l'Eveque").

Not too far onwards you will see a sign to your right "Chemin de l'orgeil".  Take this quiet shaded road past properties and domains until you come out on a very large road.  This is the D275.  Turn right and enjoy the mostly downhill ride until the same crossroad from which you can now go back to Deauville by choosing that direction.

If you do not take "Chemin de l'orgeil" and instead continue on the 278, you will have a bit of an uphill, and then there will be another unkown little country road at your right called "Chemin de Coq".  This is really a lovely route.  It's also very shaded and secluded, but every once in a while it will open to wide vistas of the most beautiful properties with handsome horses and healthy cows.  This road goes on after crossing some larger roads.  Take it at least passed 2 crossings.  At the second you might turn right and you are actually on the D275 again but much higher.  Enjoy the mostly downhill ride to the crossroad.

You might want to venture all the way to Beaumont-en-Auge.  Go ahead, but it really is quite uphill.
