![]() We're a group of Elbert County, Colorado neighbors and business owners who are concerned with the proposed high density, urban sprawl development plans for our rural county.
There are currently three major developments under review by the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners which propose to add a total of 1,655 housing units, four golf courses, and over 4,900 people to the Elizabeth area. Read more about these development proposals and their effects by clicking on the "Information" links to the left.
We, the citizens of Elbert County, are frustrated with the disregard for the concerns of the citizens of this county. Elected and appointed officials don't seem concerned with the increased, rapid growth of our county and the added burden to the water supply, infrastructure, schools, or increased taxes that we will have to pay. Our country lifestyle is threatened and out of this growing frustration, citizens have banded together and decided to recall the Elbert County Commissioners and replace them with individuals who will represent the citizens and preserve our country way of life. If you want to have a say in our county's future you must speak up now. Write to your commissioners. Let them know your opinion. Visit the "Activism" link to the left for e-mail addresses, physical addresses, government and newspaper links, and other information to help you voice your concerns. And be sure to check out the information under "Upcoming Planning Commissioner Elections" link to learn how you can help elect candidates who share your views about managed growth.
And most importantly, attend planning commission meetings for these developments to hear the facts. These meetings will be your chance for YOUR thoughts on these issues to be heard. The meeting dates will be announced as they are scheduled, and we will post whatever information we have about them here, so visit this site often and check out the "Monitoring" links.
You can also call the Planning Department at (303) 621-3135 to inquire about or verify meeting times and dates.
It's not always convenient to attend these meetings, but our attendance can and does make a difference. The future of our quality of life and the lifestyle we've chosen for ourselves and our children is at stake. Now is the time to get involved!! ![]() |
