Romania, as a
newly admitted member in the European Union, has 58.6 billion euro ($78.36
billion) at its disposal in the next 7 years to get to the
development level of European Union. This opens huge opportunities for
any initiative: economic (production, services, agriculture),
cultural, social, environment, infrastructure, regional development
etc. From 10% to 100% of the costs could be reimbursed for
approved projects. Someone with ideas could just create o project,
get it approved, finance the investment and in the end, if the declared
targets are met, you get reimbursed. You can get your break-even
in record time. I've heard many times the assertion, "tell me what is needed and I will invest". Unfortunately for investors, there are no totally uncovered needs, Romania is now a country that has anything that exists in European Union. There are no borders and if there is a missing product, it is immediately available with no difficulty. This, on the other side could be amply exploited in a reverse way. Any product or service for European Union could be done in Romania and next day it is in Austria, Hungary, Czech republic or Poland. With the difference that the other countries ended their support programs from EU, while in Romania it just started. The answer is "if you have a product fit for the EU market, consider doing it in Romania." Someone coming to Romania has the whole EU market available. There are many preconceptions about manufacturing possibilities in Romania. "Salaries are very low" - not true if you want really good people; salaries are lower than in the rest of EU, but good people have their price. "The workforce is plenty" - not true, many Romanians emigrated to other countries; but give them the chance to work for decent salaries and you will find your people. I do not say that everything is perfect. In fact even this financing program is having the rules defined just now. But keep an eye on this opportunity.
